I would have thought they might have gone Campbell at 48 then even come back with Kelly ... The only thing I can say about skipping on Campbell is that his college coach is now coaching our line so maybe he knew some things that he didn't like. They've watched the tape, I haven't, but I'm kind of scratching my head here ... no help on defense?

Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread
Well, WR has been a position of concern the past few seasons. Moss and ARE are solid- but we know that Moss is injury-prone. What's the best way to help Campbell immediately in his 20th offensive system in five years? Weapons.
According to scouts, these guys are not just tall receivers. They all had first round ability. And despite being the 3rd TE taken, BFD is the best TE in the draft (my homerism aside). Workout numbers didn't come up as well, but John Carlson? Give me a break... Now we just have to find some major diamonds to shore up both lines. |

Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread
Now that's a f'ing draft. I must give Danny boy and Vinny C some props. We got 1st round caliber players for second round picks. Seriously, the Skins have indemnified themselves from drafting a bust (all 3 can't be a bust). All offensive bases are covered except in the OL which I'm sure is going to get addressed in the later rounds. Now all we need is a saftly in the 3rd round or maybe pickup one up through free agency or trade.
Defensivly I am concerned but hopefully it'll be alright with a loaded offense.

Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread
This is very much like when we got ARE and Lloyd...we needed just one good receiver, but we got two instead. Why does our team overreact? Portis goes down, and you give up the 4th for TJ Duckett....ugh. Well I hope we can find some hidden gems in the later rounds. I wonder how Moss and Cooley are feeling right now.

Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread
the only thing I can figure is that the front office was nervous about their luck with picking wideouts in recent years, so they figure they increase their odds by taking two.
I wouldn't be surprised if this means the unthinkable for either Moss or Randle El. |

Rumors of a Randle El trade by the way, don't know how legit the rumor is right now though. I think there are serious cap implications if we do

JC is certainly going to have weapons next year. The message I'm getting is clear, this offense is open for business.

Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread
It wouldnt be the Warpath without a Madden reference so I now have two WR's to develop in Madden yay! I don't have to draft a WR in Madden for like 5 years LOL there you go.

Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread
I don't mind picking two receivers, I have seen it work in the past. Yes, D-Line could have been addressed (and should have rather than Davis - IMO). But two good receivers seems to me to be good when that was an area we were really deficient in.
We will get a D-Line guy in the 3rd and O-line depth in the 5-7th.
