If Peyton Manning was ten years younger, paying him that much money wouldn't be a bad idea. But seeing as though he's one helmet to helmet hit away from being in a wheel chair, it would be prudent of the Redskins front office to back off of pursuing Manning and eye in on RG3.

Rumor is a decision will be made by Manning on Monday. We'll see.

I have a feeling he's probably been thinking about his top three for awhile now - at least since the Colts' end of season.

According to his doctors, Peyton Manning is no more prone to sustaining a serious neck injury playing football than any other player on the field.

The problem with that is they draft 4th. So, they can toy with us and other teams all they like.

Please, allow me to state the obvious. There are doctors who don't live as long as some of their patients. Manning is recovering from surgery. Some people take years to recover from one operation. Manning has reportedly had three that we know about. We, as Redskins fans, have to realize that while Peyton Manning is the greatest quarterback since Joe Montana, he's extremely prone to injury. Signing him is a bad idea for any NFL team, not just the Redskins. The risk of signing him outweigh the rewards. Even if Manning plays in 2012, he will not be 100%. He probably won't be close to 100% until 2013.

Well, we can close this thread. Manning's camp says he's not coming to the Redskins.

As far as I'm concerned, if he's not coming here as long as he goes to Miami it still works in our favor. Reason being, him to Miami increases the chance of Flynn to Cleveland which reduces (theoretically) the price for the RGIII trade with the Rams.

That being said, Peter King responded to a question on Twitter earlier that there's more than a 90% chance the Rams trade the pick prior to free agency so it could be a crazy Monday if we offer to Peyton, get a no, then turn around and call the Rams to make the deal before free agents hit the street on Tuesday.

Any back room chatter on who the first few free agents we may be bringing to town?

Re: Colts Officially Release Peyton Manning (QB Thread #11)

Lot of people seem to be saying Vincent Jackson will be one of the first FAs we bring in. I'm not sure.

Wouldn't surprise me if a trade is made on Monday, especially if Manning does make his decision on Monday. If we're able to hold firm and not move our #2 to get RG3 that would be outstanding.

Still hearing that Manning has not ruled the Redskins out, but Dolphins are pretty much in the driver's seat.

What does the life span of a doctor have to do with his/her prognosis on a patient? I don't see the correlation.

Secondly, it would be medically irresponsible for doctors to come out and say that Peyton Manning's healed neck is in no more danger of a career ending/life changing injury than anybody else on the field if that wasn't the case.

Lastly, Manning hasn't been injury prone. He had neck surgeries to repair those issues, but until then, had never missed a game. I don't call that injury prone.

I do agree that chances are, Manning is probably not going to be 100% this season. But as we have all said and agree, 60% of Peyton Manning is better than most NFL quarterbacks in the league right now. Certainly better than Rex Grossman and John Beck.

Are you exclusively referring of a trade between the Redskins and the Rams or just the Rams trading the pick period?

Also, youve made it clear that we have a take it or leave it offer for manning. We also appear to have a take it or leave it offer for the Rams. You've also indicated we're pretty likely to get one or the other.

Would it be safe to assume that, if Manning decides on another team, we'd be more willing flexible with the Rams on the picks? It would seem our leverage with the Rams ends if/when Manning picks another team, and we'd be desperate to get the pick... the alternative would be someone like orton, which would probably ensure the shanahans are fired after the season.
