coggs, I am with you, I don't know what the over/under is on this game, but I think I would take the under. I see a low scoring game, because both teams will play it close to the vest. Refer to the last Cowboys/Giants game a few week back. Both team just bearly scored in the teens. When teams know each other pretty well, like in this case, it seems to be low scoring.

Re: Skins versus Giants

Looking at it purely objectively, both teams have weapons on offense.

Moss, Portis, Cooley, Patten, Brunell = Toomer, Barber, Shockey, Burress, Manning

I'd give a slight edge to our receivers and QB. Our defense IS far superior to the Giants defense. Lately is has been open to the big running play, but I don't think that our secondary will give up many big plays.

Both teams have elite running backs and both teams have great TEs. If the Redskins win, it will be because of the defense. Both teams will put up points, but if the Redskins take care of the ball, they win easily.

Re: Skins versus Giants

One thing that no one has mentioned is that the Giants will have motivation in trying to win it in honor of the late Mara. That being said, they won't.
I agree with others in that the two offenses seem to even each other out in terms of talent, but the Skins' D is far superior to the Giants. As always, turnovers will be key. The media loves Ellie right now after his lucky win vs. Denver, but he will turn back into a typical "deer in the headlights" second year QB going against the confusing Redskins defense.

Time for the Redskins to assert themselves on the road against a good team, and earn the respect the national media is so reluctant to give them!

Re: Skins versus Giants

I think the best stat about their defense was the 3rd conversion percentage they give up which is worst in the league (49.4%) were as we are one of the best in the league (2nd) in offensive 3rd down conversions (46.1%). What this means is we win the game that looks close on the scoreboard but dominated statistically by TOP, yards, and GOD WILLING the turnover battle.

Re: Skins versus Giants

I posted this after Dallas beat the Giants.

What we did was,

1.) Demarcus Ware eating Pettigouts lunch with outside speed rushes. And Greg Ellis eating up RT McKenzie at will.
(Do you guys have an edge pass rusher with deceptive size and speed? I mean besides the one you have but isn't allowed to play) Now you have arrington playing this is where you need him.

2.) Bring it on ELI!! When we dropped 8 back, he ate us up. When we went blitz and got pressure, the throws were either long, short, or picked off. He will pick you apart in prevent, he is good and he doesn't play like a 12 game starter. Plus He is more athletic than you would think. He ran down Anthony Henry and almost knocked the ball out of his hands after an int. He. Is. For. Real. I can't stress that enough.

3.) It's nice having the ability to change fronts (3/4 - 4/3) but the real luxury is having a guy like LaRoi Glover. The Giants strayed away from the run and that is when Glover will eat up double teams when he doesn't have to worry about getting sucked in and run behind. He had 2 sacks.

4.) We put our fastest DB on Shockey - Terrance Newman - and he shut Big Mouth Shockey down, untill the second half when we left our LB's and Safetys on him.

You cannot cover Shockey with an LB. He will eat you alive. Arrington cannot cover him, this would be a disaster for you. Put a DB on him and put Spring on Plex, and use your nickel cb on Toomer.

Other than that, get Red zone points.

The Giants will let you win the time of possesion battle, but hope to burn you with turnovers. Brunell will be harder to get at in the pocket than Bledsoe. But Strahan WILL get inside the pocket.

Re: Skins versus Giants

Just a side note on Strahan (all good points by the way), Strahan has NEVER recorded a sack against Jon Jansen.

Re: Skins versus Giants

We can control the clock and score points, Giants struggled last week and will continue to do so. I expect to see them down from the Mara loss, not up.

If the Giants score it'll be late in the game again, we have to make sure we don't let them back in.

D wins this one, balanced, time consuming Offense scores 28.

I expect the Skins to not turn the ball over and Mossnell to have a field day.

and I am being highly optimistic.

Re: Skins versus Giants

Honestly, I'm fairly certain it is... I just remember that being a huge point that came up in the papers last year when they talked about the upcoming game.

Why can't it? I don't ever remember Strahan playing all that great against us...and I hope he doesn't start to do so on Sunday!

Yeah, they ussually point out how well Jansen has blocked against Strahan in the past. I think Jasen is just in the middle of his prime and Strahan while still very, very good is starting to decline.

I do remember Strahan having one strong game against us though, I'm pretty sure it was the 2003 OT game in FedEx. Could be wrong though.
