AP: “Damn, is this the same Kinlaw we dumped in San Francisco, the knucklehead who chewed out a reporter?!? Why didn’t someone tell me??!?”

You’re right, I don’t like that write up.

Stanley was ranked 20th. Here's the write up on him:

20. Ronnie Stanley, Baltimore Ravens
Stanley’s best years seem to be behind him. He has not played more than 900 snaps in a season since 2019 and has not earned a PFF grade over 71.0 in any of his last three seasons. However, when he's healthy, the Notre Dame product can still be a solid pass protector for stretches. In fact, his 2023 pass-blocking grade of 75.9 ranked 22nd among offensive tackles.

And here's the site: https://www.pff.com/news/nfl-pff-off...024-nfl-season. Again, this was going into the season that just ended, so this doesn't take into account the season that just ended.

Tunsil around the same age as Trent when he last played for us. For years that has seemed like a huge mistake. 30 is not 40. This is a huge move and screams we want to win it all now.

Kinlaw and Tunsil healthy and coming off good years. We just saw the Eagles beat us because they beat us in the trenches. Nobody should be complaining about any of this.

Not complaining, just assessing
Strictly opinion but I see Kinlaw as a D move, due to cost, performance, attitude, injury history all on an unforced move when we had the $ to keep a well respected captain at likely similar future performance TBD.

I see Tunsil as a B move, an obvious upgrade and directly protects our franchise QB, far more important piece. We traded a lot for him, hence the B. And I think he may get penalized a good amount. Really a critical move, similar to CB with Lattimore but moreso, since there is only 1 blindside tackle. It also creates depth at LT AND potentially fills another starting role at RT or guard. This move is the move of the offseason so far. This is not just a receiver or a DT. It is arguable that the LT may be the 2nd most important position on the field. I am quite pleased it was addressed firmly

Going into last season, I was saying the sky was falling due to our weak oline talent and the weaker new flop giants oline coach that couldnt get production out of first rounders. We'll, they did pretty well. Of course it helped that we had a quick throw, quick scramble, elite vision superstar QB. Oline is essential in our division. This is a rock solid piece that impacts the whole oline, well done Peters!

Thanks, yeah, I'd take that with a smile at no draft pick cost, but it looks like we got the better LT, which is highly preferable to protect Daniels

Happy with both signings - money and value a little high sounding - a LITTLE... but when the production matches that will go to bed.

Trenches focus is a win for me.

Re: Washington Free Agents Signings

The strategy is obvious, they're trying to win it all now while JD is on a rookie deal. This was a really steep price to pay for Tunsil. But at the same time, Peters seems to have a strategy and is going for it. We all wanted to be in this position, have a franchise QB on a rookie deal try and make a run. We'll see if it works. It worked for the Rams, basically throwing in the towel on the draft.

Two future picks is basically a discount too
LT's seem to be able to play at a high level well into their 30's. Andrew Whitworth made it to 40 I believe. He's the exception but don't see why Tunsil can't play until he's 35 or 36, if he takes care of his body and is still motivated.

Anyone got a clear enough picture of likely compensatory picks? Figuring we should get something for losing Brown at least.

I'm not sure I would categorize anything we have done so far as "throwing in the towel on the draft". For Tunsil, we gave up a 3rd and 7th this year and got a 4th back. We did give up a couple picks next year, but it's too early to tell what picks we'll end up with in 2026 at this point.

We still have five picks this year in rounds 1, 2, 4, 6, & 7.

I don't know yet if I'm a fan of the Kinlaw deal, but I'll give AP the benefit of the doubt.

Gotta believe we are actively looking for some DB help with Chinn going to the Raiders.

I am willing to bet we also trade back from 29 at this point.
