Re: Let's talk Brandon Scherff

So I wanted to find something that made me feel good about the pick. I am all in with Scot, but it's nice to find some nugget that makes you say, yeah ... I get it. Well this is mine:

2014 Outland Trophy winner --> Brandon Sherff.
Why you ask, does that give me the warm fuzzies?
Last 15 by year starting with 2013 (each * is a probowl appearance, an X means bust imo:
Aaron Donald *
Luke Joeckel
Barret Jones
Gabe Carimi X
Ndamukong Suh ****
Andre Smith
Glen Dorsey
Joe Thomas ********
Greg Eslinger X
Jammal Brown**
Robert Gallery
Rien Long X
Bryant McKinnie *
John Henderson **
And MY favorite! Chris Samuels****** in 1999

other notables: Orlando Pace, Jonathan Ogden, Russell Maryland, Bruce Smith

It may not be a 100% sure indicator, but there are some seriously talented football players in that list. I hope Scherff is a mainstay on our line for 8-12 years with a PB or 2, and if so, that's a great pick regardless of Tackle or Guard.

He's a top 5 lineman in this draft according to most talking heads. Taking a chance with a mid-to-late-round pick seems like a no-brainer.

I agree, and of course the police would want to talk to him considering his relationship with the woman. That's a no-brainer also.

Overly Manly Man has nothing on Scherff.

Iowa OT Brandon Scherff practices day after surgery, plays Saturday - With the First Pick - NFL Scouting Reports, College Football, and the 2015 NFL Draft

I'm beginning to love this pick.

I was surprised to see us pass on Leonard Williams, but as much as I complain about the OL, I cant be mad about it. Hopefully he is a mainstay for the next decade.

If Scherff ends up being as good as Jon Jansen, this pick was worth it.

As good as JJ was his prime, Scherff's ceiling is so much higher.

Re: Let's talk Brandon Scherff

listening to Scherff
he said that Coach Gruden called him just before the pick and said "we want you to be a Redskin. I said I could not be more proud"
Nicely spoken kid

Preston saying all the right things to....At least until the season starts....I love these guys

Finally, we are rebuilding from the inside out. The days of pushing the Washington Redskins around at the point of attack are soon coming to an end. Love the Scherff pick, and the McCloughan blueprint.

Re: Let's talk Brandon Scherff

I think this draft had Scot McC written all over. I feel that Williams would have been the splashy/sexy pick that this team has often done in the past.

Hopefully I'm not jinxing things, but so far all the moves made in the offseason and the draft seem to have completely come from McC. And it looks like he's totally in control of player acquisition.
