If neither Moses nor Long look like the best options at RG and RT, do you still want to have them start? Wouldn't that be change just for the sake of change? Except worse, because it would be an inexperienced rookie you'd be throwing to the dogs. |

Re: RT and OL thread
I dont think we would have taken them relatively high if we didnt think they could make an impact year one

Re: RT and OL thread
Murphy is definitely going to have the chance to make an impact right away.

Re: RT and OL thread
Well I mean a guy like Murphy for example won't start but should get a lot of playing time. Here's how I see it
Murphy-Significant playing time, won't start barring injury Moses-Lots of game day inactives Long-Could start toward the back end of the season Breeland-Practice squad Seastrunk-Some early inactives, but I think he'll make a push for playing time toward the 2nd half. Knocks Thompson off roster Grant-Has the potential to make Roberts look like a complete waste of a FA signing Holser-Cut Hocker-All he has to do is make the team and he starts, and I think he's got a great shot

Re: RT and OL thread
Day 1 will be Watt, Clowney, and Cushing against our OL. We all know Polumbus just can't handle that in pass blocking. I don't know that Moses can but (barring a terrible preseason) I believe the Skins will go with the trial by fire method for Moses.
Maybe not, but I just can't ever shake the comment by Gruden that when he was playing QB a missed block by his RT caused him to break his ankle - or something to that effect. When he watches Polumbus on film, he is going to see a guy that gets beat on the edge every single drop back. That means there will be a lot of chip blocks on that side, and if you have to give help, then imo go with the guy with more upside, and maybe he gets it. That would be Moses. |

Re: RT and OL thread
Good breakdown of Polumbus, including a GIF that shows on at least one play Polumbus did a very good job of providing a pocket. I swear I think it's photoshopped .

Re: RT and OL thread
Polumbus isn't nearly as bad as people seem to think. He's middle of the road guy that can hold down the spot until he's pushed out. No need to rush Moses in there until he earns the job.

Re: RT and OL thread
I think Polumbus sucks. When we're talking about a guy basically having his career year in which he's essentially, at best, just average then its time to figure out a path away from said player. Now whether they'll feel like Moses is either ready to be the guy or needs to get dropped into the fire to round into the guy I don't know. But let's not fool ourselves. Polumbus is not a starting at RT for a consistently good football team.
It all depends on what they feel is the best way to develop Moses. I am not a big fan of developing a OLineman by having him take a few snaps during the week in between the starters working on game plans and then deactivating him every weekend. I hope that unless they think he might just get overwhelmed they just put him in and can watch him grow. |

Re: RT and OL thread
Crawford only got hurt one year, and was a freak play where he made a bad decision on a PR, but at times in 2012, he looked like our 2nd best CB.
