Re: Skins vs Packers post game thread

If tackling is an issue, there needs to be some major time put into fixing that. They need to focus on the basics again. Tackling, catching, man coverage. In that order. They fixed the (rb) ball protection from last week but they still have these major issues still.

Re: Skins vs Packers post game thread

Pathetic display all around, again. Hype has given way to complete embarrassment. It all starts with poor preparation and attitude. Again Shanahan fails to have them ready to play on either side of the ball. People can sugar coat things all they want but this is a mess. They still are taking bad penalties (personal fouls, etc seem to be a hallmark of Shanahan's time here) and overall playing awful football with a depressing lack of fundamentals. I guess months of offseason wasn't enough time to get ready.

Loved Merriweather celebrating making a tackle, after his man picked up ten yards and a first down. Well done. That's the kind of attitude this team has had for months, just like the Nationals. Read their overhyped press clippings and basically figured they didn't have to work. And the Eagles and Packers have carved them up like roasts.

Ugly business.

I'm not as down on Merriweather as everyone else is. At least he tackles and he hits hard. He is the best Redskins db on the field when he's out there.

Everything went downhill after we cut Pat White.

In all seriousness, it could be argued that the Redskins defense and the game turned for the worse when Merriweather was injured and left the game.

Pathetic pitiful performance.

Going into the bye at 1-3 is the best case scenario.

I'm disgusted.

^ Oakland obviously isn't a push over. They have played well 2 weeks in a row. Even though today was against jax

One of the reasons we did so well last season? ...We had a functioning on all cylinders offense. When your offense works, then your defense doesn't HAVE to work as hard.

What you're seeing now is what we really are and always have been as of late. Don't act surprised now.
People are expecting that, because Cofield, Orakpo and other Redskins were saying "Theres no reason we shouldn't be a top 10 defense".

Kerrigan is a beast

Merriweather needs to be cut anyway.
Garcon is solid
Reed looks like he'll be a beast
Morris did OK nothing great.
Trent Williams is a monster

Other than that we really have some major major issues everywhere else
I didn't think RGIII played well when it mattered and the game was still winnable.

Re: Skins vs Packers post game thread

My point is simple, missed tackles will lose you the game. I don't feel like looking it up, but how many missed tackles do we have through the first two weeks? I'm sure we are close to leading the leauge in that stat. We have got to do better when we have a shot at getting a guy down.

As far as the O goes, it's whatever. Nobody looks on the same page, and the numbers we are putting up are when the other team is up 20 points. PG had a big day, Morris had over 100 yards, but that was after GB was up by so much at the half. I'm all about RGIII, but a few more weeks like this (the sky is not falling) and I'll start to wonder what happened, and why we haven't taken a look at Kurt. We are far from being out of the running since all the NFC East looked like hell today. Just gotta figure some sh@t out....

This feels like we're making excuses for our pitiful performance. Honestly we're bad enough that I think our next improvement will be a competitive game. I don't expect us to be this bad in the second half of the season, but then again I didn't think we would look so terrible right now.

Yeah, the Redskins could VERY likely go 0-4 until they show me otherwise. Raiders aren't good, but they can still beat us. Plus Haslett sucks at making a gameplan against a mobile QB.

The Lions, Reggie Bush can break off huge runs against us, and Calvin Johnson makes great secondaries look bad. Plus the Lions have a good front 7 that can shut down our running game making us one dimensional and make Griffin throw the ball out quick.

They should know better, but I wouldn't expect them to come out and say they suck and still need work.

But we should know better as well. I'll admit I thought with a healthy front 4 we'd take some heat off our secondary but they're still just as bad as ever.

As much as I lay the majority of the blame on the O, the defense still needs to do better, mostly in the stretch (after the half).

The Redskins D is just fundamentally bad. Crazy penalties, mind-boggling horrible tackling... I don't know how this can happen so consistently at the pro level.

For The record: Redskins have been out gained in yards 695-230 in the first half this season. They have been out scored 50-7, with the lone TD coming from a defensive TD against Philadelphia.
