Re: Joe Gibbs and Veteran QB's
You mean Paul Brown if you want to get down to it.

Re: Joe Gibbs and Veteran QB's
I disagree, example Marty schottenheimer. His conservative style cost him playoff wins more than once.

Re: Joe Gibbs and Veteran QB's
The Cowboys ran a very simple version of Don Coryell's offense. If it doesn't have Aikman, Emmitt, Irvin and an all world o-line, they don't win 3 Super Bowl's in 4 years. In the end, it always comes down to players and how they execute the offense. No disrespect to Bill Walsh or Don Coryell. They were both great head coaches and great minds of offense. But if Walsh doesn't have Montana, and let's say Steve Deberg, he's not going down in history as one of the greatest coaches ever.

Re: Joe Gibbs and Veteran QB's
That makes sense.
I knew Beathard and Gibbs did not always agree on player personnel. Nobody is perfect and neither of them was either. Beathard drafted Ryan Leaf! Ouch! |

Re: Joe Gibbs and Veteran QB's
I was surprised that Brown was ranked 6th. The man won a slew of championships and was more of an innovator than Lombardi, Noll, or Shula and Walsh developed the West Coast offense under his tutelage (although Walsh felt Brown purposely held him back). In so many ways, he is responsible for the game as it is now played.
So I guess the top 5 are Lombardi, Halas, Walsh (If Walsh beats out either of these two, I will puke) Shula, Noll. Brown was jobbed.

Re: Joe Gibbs and Veteran QB's
Tom Landry was an outstanding coach. One of the best ever...but don't tell that to people here
