Re: 1991 Redskins 20th Anniversary
I attended a couple games that season - the Monday night win over Philly when Charles Mann whipped Antone Davis for 3 sacks in a Redskins shutout at RFK. Better still I attended the rare victory at the Meadowlands, where Gary Clark caught 2 second half TDs to overcome a double digit deficit. That made the Skins 8-0, and I recall Giants fans telling me then and there what I already knew - the Skins were headed to the Super Bowl.

Re: 1991 Redskins 20th Anniversary
Are we suppose to celebrate their achievement or get depressed knowing that we once had winners from all the way at the top the to water boy?
This anniversary is depressing more than anything else. I'm done with the glory days and ready for the glorious future that POS owner of ours has promised us year in year out.

Re: 1991 Redskins 20th Anniversary
celebrate the past for sure .. 3 super bowls baby ... this season sucks for the last month .. BUT we have a lot of football left ... 8-8 should be goal .... 1991 was one hell of a team, I was at the Falcons playoff game and threw my seat cushion and I was 10 years old ... that is bad ass ... u know what sucks, as soon as I got old enough to enjoy an adult beverage we have been horrible. I wish we could go back to a time machine and handled everything after 1992 differently. One thing I really really wish we would have done, kept Marty Schottenheimer & Trent Green. Those 2 things could have really put this franchise in a different direction. Blah sorry I mean to talk about the celebration of 1991 but i'm so damn frustrated i can't even make sense anymore.

Re: 1991 Redskins 20th Anniversary
When I watch thsses videos you really see just how great Joe Gibbs 1 was. You see the old GB power sweeps, you see numerous formations, he invented the bunch sets, you see quick hitting traps, you see big clumsy Mark Rypien rolling the pocket, you see deep balls, you see Rypien rolling to the right and throwing back to the left, a lot of motion and shifting...it must've been a nightmare preparing to play the Redskins back then.

Re: 1991 Redskins 20th Anniversary
That would cancel out half this roster and coaching staff.

Re: 1991 Redskins 20th Anniversary
Funny how some people on this forum bitch about Gibbs II when he has been the most successful of all the recent coaches not counting Gibbs I. If there's anyone to blame for Gibbs II not being successful as Gibbs I is Vinny and Dan + impatient fans. Gibbs came as the savior and tried to turn the ship quickly and yes, he made a few bad moves w/ Vinny's help and inheriting a shitty roster.
His last season coaching during Gibbs I he had more injuries than this season and to critical positions, yet he managed to win the wild card game and almost beat SF on the next playoff game in SF. In my opinion his best coaching performance ever, even better than winning SB's. Joe Gibbs=Redskins god No one and I mean no one, will ever fill his shoes.
