I am not sold on Vick yet. Great so far, let's see how he does in the postseason and next year.

Re: What Michael Vick won't be

Vick still took the Falcons to the NFC Championship game on his back and beat Brett Farve in Green Bay. I've never in my life seen a more explosive QB. I was soooo lucky to see Vick play in college. Any of you guys every witnessed this man at VT it was a sight to see.

Hell, he was with the first three pros on Pros v/s Joes that lost to the Joes after the 09 season.

Randall had a sweet fade. And he could throw the ball to the pylon pretty well too.

The 80 yard punt was awesome.

Yup, the corner blitz has slowed his greatness down a lot. He hasn't looked so awesome the last 5 games.

I am still jealous of my brother's friend who bought Vick's Sugar Bowl ring for $3000 before the season and is now having offers of $10,000. He still is trying to get in touch with Vick though to see if he wants to buy it back.

It's safe to say that thewarpath.net QB prognosticators (including me) should just stop trying to forecast who's going to be a good QB or not. I remember a majority of the posters saying Josh Freeman was a terrible QB, that Brady Quinn and Matt Leinert will be better than Vince Young, that Michael Vick will never be Randall Cunningham, Jimmy Clausen was the most NFL ready QB (me). Sigh...

Tell you what Vick is - in the playoffs, pro bowl if not heading to super bowl, heading to the superbowl if not to the pro bowl, all after being injured and missing a couple of games. And people are still on the fence- lol.

Vick also lit us up on national television this year. But Redskin fans are saying how terrible Vick is.

Brady Quinn and Matt Leinart are still better than Vince Young. Vince Young's owner just liked him more. Tell you what, bring this subject up in about 3-4 more years.

How can you justify that statement? Brady Quinn has done nothing in the league whatsoever, and Leinart has been a colossal bust. Vince Young is a head case and has been kind of up and down, but he's still got a 30-17 record as a starter, has been to a pro-bowl, won offensive rookie of the year, and has looked like a high-level starter at times.

Don't get me wrong, I'm no Vince Young fan, but I think he's a way better quarterback and athlete than Brady Quinn and Matt Leinart.

GD it! I had a long and thoughtful response to post and I lost it.

In a nutshell

Leinart was cut because the HC didn't like him, not for lack of ability. Matt Cassel was his backup's backup at one time. He will have to step in sometime and will turn some heads.

Quinn is in the wrong system an has been since college. As soon as someone puts him in the "Walsh" system; he will blossom. He may not have a cannon but he has everything else. It will be a tragedy if no one ever gives it a try.

VY on his best day is an option QB with 2 tools (speed and a cannon). Nobody in the NFL runs the option so do the math. He has none of the other necessary skills. VY has just had the benefit of having an owner that loved him.

Had Leinart and Quinn had as many opportunities as VY we wouldn't be having this conversation. Bookmark this page and give it 3-4 more years. One if not both will have proven their worth beyond that of VY.

I hear what you're saying, but your argument is putting more weight on potential/speculation than actual accomplishments.

I'd be surprised if Leinart or Quinn ever amount to anything but backups in the NFL. Tim Tebow had way more doubters coming out of college than Brady Quinn, and Quinn never even came close to surpassing him on the depth chart this year despite a few more years of NFL experience. And as long as Schaub is healthy, Leinart will never see the field in Houston.

Shanahan and Co should at least give Leinart a look this offseason. Though as I understand it the team has a limit of two reclamation projects per season and Smith seems to be the guy, which is fine but the fact of the matter is Leinart knows our offense.
