Re: Munching the Mocks: Andre Smith now leads for Redskins
As much as we need OL this guy is a trap. He fought with Alabama Coach Nick Saban over doing work to prepare for the draft in the spring or playing in the Sugar Bowl vs. Utah. Ultimately, he was benched for this behavior. Then, this past month at the combine, he just left without telling anyone where he was. This guy has serious character issues. I would go for a guy like Michael Oher everyday over Andre Smith

Re: Munching the Mocks: Andre Smith now leads for Redskins
can we restructure jansen then so that we don't take a hit when we cut him??
And for all you TSuggs fans, if you really want a player like him we should get Larry English from Northern Illinois, he looks exactly like suggs |

Re: Munching the Mocks: Andre Smith now leads for Redskins
personally I am hoping the skill players they project are picked where they are slotted..ahead of the thirteenth pick..I'd hate to see both Crabtree and one of the QBs freefall..
because if Rey Maualuga is there..isn't he the best fit?..he opens up options. and they drafted offense last year I like this over a drafting a DL and the risky roll of the dice a rookie D-lineman really is.. ..so few actually pan out.. |

I wonder if Dockery's brother Cederic (I think)will be looked at?..some mock drafts don't even have him drafted..but he is interesting..and from a winning College background..at Texas..and has decent size

No. The release fee is $ 2.775M this year. After the season we can release him with a cap savings of $ 2.288M. The last thing we want to do is restructure Jansen.

Re: Munching the Mocks: Andre Smith now leads for Redskins
I think Maualuga will be a special player and would be worth our pick but as someone already said "it would be overkill."
We need help on the o-line. A tackle would be nice but I'm not sold on Andre Smith. He's already shown he doesn't have the make up to be a successful NFL football player. He was a top-3 pick and blew it. |

at 13 we have alot of options. there will be a couple of nice top classed guys
available, and getting haynesworth and dockery shores up a few vital needs. we just need the outside pass rush on the line now. |

Re: Munching the Mocks: Andre Smith now leads for Redskins
what if Crabtree fell? As much as we need help on the offensive and defensive lines, we'd be crazy not to consider picking him. Maybe more importantly, another team might want to trade up to draft him and swap us some picks so we can fill our holes.

I would rather do this instead of getting Crabtree, besides we already have a young wideout with questionable health issues (Kelly).

Re: Munching the Mocks: Andre Smith now leads for Redskins
I'm all for trading down in general. We have so many positions to fill and we wont come close to doing so with only four picks. I think Crabtree may fall to us because of his injury and though it would be tempting to pick him because he is such a tremendous talent, we'd be better served by trading down to someone who wants him and is willing to pay and pay well.
It would be nice to trade back to 20-22 in the first and collect a 3rd and 4th (maybe 4th this year and 3rd in 2010) or a 4th and 5th this year. |

Re: Munching the Mocks: Andre Smith now leads for Redskins
While Crabtree is injured now, he is far from being an injury concern. Kelly we knew before the draft had poor knees and yet we still took him.

Re: Munching the Mocks: Andre Smith now leads for Redskins
Since it is apparrent that we're not going to sign a T in FA I think we have to get Andre Smith in the draft if he falls to us. I'd rather trade down and get Britton and Mack. Andre Smith has some issues but, if he's the best available at 13 and no one wants to trade down then I don't see any other choice if we're committed to getting a younger line.
The FO seems to want to get younger at this point but I don't see any of the younger O-line guys like Heyer or Rinehardt making an impact next season. We've plenty of dept at RT but I just think we need a stud there instead of an overacheiver. Jansen has held it down for years but even he knows the hand writing is on the wall. On a totally unrealted note, I was sorting through some old cards to sell and guess who I came across? I've got Clay Mathews when he was with the Browns in 1991. This guy was built like a brick shit house. Will his son pick up weight and play like his daddy? |
