(yes I'm hinting of a poll)
I'm 100% not in favor of this move. History shows that these type of moves rarely pan out. Haynesworth has already played 7 years and has a history of getting hurt and has questionable character. The only good thing about this is that we didn't have to give up draft picks. Another bad move by the FO.

To me, the fact that we were able to do this while keeping Cornelius Griffin is huge. Griffin is capable of having a big season himself. Teams doubling Haynesworth should give Griifin, as well as the DE's, more opportunity to make big plays.

Re: Albert Haynesworth is a Redskin!!!!

I think keeping Griff adds leadership to the defensive line, and he should have a good influence on AH. Like everyone here, I like the player, don't necessarily love the money however we were calling for a better pass rush and run stop, and I think we got it. I am a bit concerned about the team's ability to get an offensive lineman, I think read in the Wash Post that the talks with Dock have stopped? I hope not and I hope we can get him for cheap.

I love the signing because, for a few years we'll all seen and complained how the D-Line is our biggest hole, especially the DTs. We can no longer say it is a weakness.

If our O-line can stay healthy or we upgrade it with the draft, we're a rock solid team everywhere except kicker/punter...and hopefully our defense can negate the punting situation and the offense can score TDs instead of relying on Suisham.

We are a better team now than last year already.

I hope we can get Dockery somehow now.

7 years isn't that long. The guy is what, 28 years old. I know stuff like this doesn't always pan out but I think we are over due for something to actually
work out for us. Again, he will be double teamed which will help out Grif,JT and Carter. Not to mention less stress on our CB's

Talks with Dockery are expected to continue but no visits have been scheduled.

But in all honesty... This is exactly what we've needed for years. We found our answer to Brandon Jacobs. We have exactly the player that this line has been lacking. We have two DE's that have consistently made QB's step into the pocket, but have always lacked the penetrating DT's to collapse it. Enter AH.

This will instantly make our defense top 3. I think this is the perfect player for this team, and if your going to get the perfect player, you've got to pay perfect player money.

I'm officially on the AH bandwagon.
since our D was top 4 last year, i'd hope it'd make us top 3 this year

though i expect sacks and our own points per game will increase (as a result of turnovers).

Re: Albert Haynesworth is a Redskin!!!!

I do like french fries....

Now look, I think most people on here are going to agree; I didnt really read through most posts right now cause I'm at work, so if this has already been said (which I'm sure it has..so be it)...

I mean none of my opinion on this move has to do with my thoughts on Albert Haynesworth as a player...because he is a great, dominant player...the Washington Redskins are going to be a much better defense with him in there, thats not even debatable...

However, the fact of the matter is this...we had a really good defense last year.. .and a really really bad offense last year.. I dont understand why we just threw 150 million dollars into our defense overnight (just looking at contract totals).. and we are basically left with nothing to do to address the offense...

I really want Dockery to come back here, but I think we probaboly dont have the room to make this move at this point. 100 Million dollars is just insane for almost any NFL player... As Redskins fans we should be praying there is no cap after 2010 (as a football fan I hope the cap doesnt go away)...

I dont know, I'm very happy Albert Haynesworth is part of this team, but at this price it is just too much. I think were morgating too much to have him here, and I think its going to hurt us in the long run, I really do.

However, welcome to D.C, Albert. Glad to have you here.

Didn't the Titans give up the 2nd fewest points in the NFL last year?

I'm cool with the move and the money. You've got to pay the cost if you want elite players and you don't draft worth a crap. If we're able to draft Orapko (which I think is doubtful if we don't sign a RT in free agency) then we could have a scary-good defense. London Fletcher is the happiest guy on the team right now, that's for sure.

It didn't really solve our biggest issues, RT, LG, K, PR, P, LB but maybe the plan is to win games 17-16.

I don't want to be a downer but I would like to be the voice of reason.

Is anyone old enough to remember the Dana Stubblefield and Dan Wilkinson signing years ago?...Don't get too excited for Haynesworth yet because he has yet to show what he can do in OUR system.

We got two stallwort DT's with Stubby and Wilkinson and their effect on our defense was minimal. Haynesworth is one person and subject to the scheme that he plays in.

Let's have some tempered realism with our expectations.

Re: Albert Haynesworth is a Redskin!!!!

LOVE the player, HATE the money. BUT, it seems to be a fair market kind of deal. From the initial info available, this is the kind of loot John Clayton had called for all week.
It is a lot of guaranteed money between Hall And Haynesworth...60m++
