Not saying it was you but it just seems strange that all of a sudden there's all this support for Frost. Hindsight sure is a bitch.

Whil I did not agree with letting Frost go brooks will be OK. I think he is just a little nerv problem and is trying too hard. Punting in the NFL is no harder then college so he should be fine. One question though. Was he the holder in college and if not why would we have him holding instead of a backup QB?

So true! Everyone cries for change and when it doesn't work they start crying for the old guy. So funny.

Frost had a snap go right through his hands and out of the endzone resulting in a safety yesterday. I think either way we were screwed.

Yeah I will stick with the rookie because there is room for development.

Dude if frost was here he wouldve completely speared reggie bush on that return and ripped off his helmet screaming like an animal. Probably wouldve landed bush on IR and he wouldve scooped up the ball and thrown 17 stiff arms while moon walking 80yds to the end zone effectively killing 8minutes of game clock while the saints try in vain to tackle him. All this helmetless.

Then in celebration he would bareback bang the entire cheerleading squad on the sidelines as the saints stared effeminately at his magnificent junk.

Why do so many college punters not make the transition to the NFL then?

It's a different ball, it's not quite the same.

Didn't Frost out punt Brooks in the pre season? If that's the case why isn't he still our punter? Brooks was simply terrible yesterday. I know the guy's a draft pick in all but still.

Re: Durant Brooks Venting Thread

Really, 2 points versus 3.

If you watched the hang time counter they had up on the Bush return, it was almost 5 seconds. *IF* it was Brooks' fault, it was because he was supposed to punt directionally (and didn't) and the coverage was cheating to the side he was supposed to kick to.

I haven't heard anything about whether that was Brooks' fault, though. The hang time on that punt was good and the coverage was AWFUL. They got sealed off from the hash over to the sideline. That punt with that coverage could have been returned for a touchdown by most returners in the NFL.

The blocking on punt returns has also been AWFUL. ARE hasn't been stellar, but then again he has had little to work with.

For those arguing that Frost "outkicked" Brooks in the preseason, look at the net and not the actual yardage of the kicks. Brooks' net was longer and his actual kicks were shorter on average. This was because he put his punts up higher and didn't outkick coverage. That's something frost did with regularity. Lots of shanks, lots of outkicked coverages.

Seriously, we play one of the most dangerous returners in the NFL and the rook drops a hold and Frost is suddenly jumping Jesus on a pogo stick.

Re: Durant Brooks Venting Thread

The punt coverage really was the main problem on the Bush return. I think it may have been the ballhawk Horton that I noticed got sealed off inside and didn't stick with his lane.

I don't know Matt...I had a nice view of that punt from good old section 419and it was very low...a total line drive. The coverage didn't have a chance to get down the field by the time Bush had the ball. But when i watch the TV copy later I will take a look at Horton on that play.

Anyway, I already said earlier in the thread that I wanted Brooks to get the job so I am not bailing on him. He will eventually improve. And the fans at the game need to stop booing that kid...it is not helping him get better.

The TV angle is pretty good, there was simply no outside contain and Bush bounced to the outside and took advantage of it.

I saw that there was no outside contain...but when the punt comes out that low it f's everything up. I guess we can agree that there was plenty of screwing up to go around on that play!

Re: Durant Brooks Venting Thread

B-Mitch put it all on Brooks, saying the coverage team had no shot if it's a low, short line drive like that..

Brooks has been a disappointment for 2 games, Frost was a disappointment for 4 years! Does anyone think the light bulb was magically going to come on this year? Sir Shank-a-lot was good for a 46 yard punt when you were near mid-field in a 7-0 game, but he was really great at shanking a 27 yarder in the 4th quarter when we needed to pin our opponent deep.

I'm fine with some growing pains with Brooks if he makes the transition over the long haul.
