I think we're gonna be fine with Blades. The guy was a tackling machine in college. He's definitely starter material, IMO.

but hes more of a middle linebacker than outside linebacker. i think he will eventually replace fletcher when he retires at inside, but outside for this game should be godfrey

I am not willing to accept that he's gone until 2009 yet...the range is 9 to 12 months. 9 months would be September...everyone heals differently...well see what happens. Carson Palmer torn up his knee in January and made it back for opening day the next year. Well see what happens.

LBs rely heavily on speed and switching direction. Palmer is a pocket passer who can be effective without mobility. The question is, even if Rocky can come back next season at some point, how effective can he really be?

That's real real real bad news. This guy was having a very good season. Hope this won't affect our D too much especially against Adrian Peterson next week.

It's astonishing that we're even thinking "playoffs" right now given the injuries this season.

We have every right to be the bottom-dwellers of the NFL, yet we're still in the hunt. Amazing.

That's 12/22 starters who are either done for or who have been suffering throughout the year.
You know, I've been starting to think something similar. I've been very frustrated with Gibbs' clock management this year, and some other things here and there. But when you consider all the crap this team has gone through, 7-7 is a pretty admirable coaching job.

It's not a coaching job up to par with what he used to do back in the 80s, because that Gibbs never made these kind of clock management mistakes. But Gibbs II is clearly just as effective as ever when it comes to bringing men together to scratch and claw and fight for a common goal, especially when faced with adversity.

Overall, I'm very proud of this team.

That's it - bionic knees for everyone on the team.

It's depressing to think that we might have to go the first half of next season without two key guys like Rocky and Carlos, and of course we'll never have Taylor back.

This is just wrecking my mood. I was looking forward to Rocky chasing Peterson down all game.

Re: Rocky's out for the season, perhaps gone until 2009

Gotta feel for Rocky especially, this is both of his knees now. I'm sure he'll want to come back, but when both of your knees have been hurt like this, it's not a bad idea to give up football.

As mentioned earlier, Briggs in b&g is now a possibility, but I certainly hope the Danny isn't committed to signing him for the same $ he was in the offseason. A lot of things have changed since then; we signed Cooley to an extension & Landry to a big rookie deal, which was basically the $ that Briggs could've gotten since we were to trade our #1 pick to the bears.

I like Briggs, but I'm inclined to think that this is a time when the front office & coaches shouldn't panic & rush to spend all their cap dollars in one place. Let's look at some cheaper free agents & develop our young guys. I like Blades but he is definitely not an ideal weak side linebacker, nor is Godfrey.

I've got an idea, let's bring Lavar back!

I know...just wishfull thinking...he's young maybe his recovery can be on the short end and he can play at least some of next season.

Does anyone know if Rocky wears knee braces? Do braces slow down a players mobility - if not why wouldn't players take the precaution like a hockey player wears a helmet and wear knee braces to help prevent injuries?

You mean like these? Yeah, I'd imagine that would slow him down.

Even with a knee brace you can still get injured.

Regardless, those big bulky ones that QBs wear are definitely cumbersome and someone like a linebacker isn't going to wear one.
