I think he's just saying the right thing at this point. After 3 years away from the game who knows what kind of QB he'll be. You would have to think it would take him some time to shake off the rust and by then we're talking about a 31 year old QB who's best asset is his legs. Some rumors say he would be better off coming back at an easier position to adjust to such as RB or WR.

My guess is the NFL won't suspend him when he gets out of jail. I think 3 seasons away from the game is appropriate enough of a punishment.
I don't know if he was just saying the right things or not. Common sense says you would think so, but remember Blank wheeling vick around in a wheel chair? I've read that they were pretty close, for an owner and a player anyway.

Yeah they were close but Blank must have felt so betrayed initially. He thought he knew Vick but he obviously didn't. He does seem like a good guy though and perhaps he'll give Vick a 2nd shot.

That's kind of what I'm thinking. After his cool down period, he might've started to feel bad for Vick. I could see it happening.

I do agree with Shriff. This is too much for the crime he committed. I like animals and do not think that what Vick did was right under any circumstance.

Then tell me, what is it about? It IS animal-related and that is it, plain and simple. Now, you and I and the rest of America are watching this stupid media sources like ESPN and animal lovers make it so much more than it is. People are letteing Holywood dictate how they feel. I am not trying to be political, far from it, but you can't help but notice that people are just plain hypocrites. Soldiers are dying, children in Africa and Asia are dying by hundreds, crime rate is high (at least here in the DC area), but the biggest crime of all which has all the media's attention is killing dogs. Please...

Watch any local news and when they talk about a crime (real people dying) all we do is CLICK (change channel). Why? Because we got used to it. But Vicks case was a new story. Once the media heard about this, they were like a kid in a candy store. All they saw is a rating increase.

Beleive me when I say this, the media can't careless about Vick or the "dogs".

Neither do any of us. I tell you why. There are so many dogs, and animals in general, that are being mis-treated by owners. There so many of them with out homes. It is true we are not killing any of them but none of us are doing anything about it. We only care because the media told you and me to care.

Anywho, that is my two cents.
In most cases the people make the choice whether to participate or not. The dogs were not lucky enough to have that option.

Matty, I heard on some show, that this might have something to do with the signing bonus the Falcons are trying to recoup. Something about they cant cut him because then they can't get the signing bonus. And if they say he's not coming back, could hurt them in arbitration.

Meaning 102 years in prison this guy had and on top of that he had to pay $34,000 in fines. Vick only paid $5,000.

23 months and $5,000 vs 102 years and $34,000. Tell me who got the slap on the wrist?
wow...I figured something like that has happened...do you have a link by chance?

Re: Vick Sentenced to 23 months in Prison

Im also curious how much the "celebrity factor" actually plays into this. Our legal system does not cater to justice, it caters to money. If you have money, you don't get the type of penalties that a poor person would get for the same crimes. High powered lawyers can spend much more time and effort, along with often just being plain better than say a court appointed lawyer. The only way this doesn't happen is if the prosecution has a slam dunk case -- even then, money can work our plea deals.

In unrelated news to Vick's prison term, but certainly not thread worthy. Vick files for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. 10-50 mil in the hole.

WAVY TV 10 : Virginia and North Carolina News -Vick files for bankruptcy protection
