Re: team hard to take

Was the holding penalty before the field goal that made it 16-14 on us or them. Maybe i was a little confused watching the lead disappear but i couldn't understand why we wouldnt have wanted it to be 3rd and 34 if it was on Buffalo

It was on us, but accepting the penalty would not have put the Bills out of field goal range (it's assessed at the point of the foul, not the line of scrimmage) and would have given them an extra down.

Re: team hard to take

I don't know what to make of the whole situation. I was born in 1990, so I totally missed everything great that the Redskins accomplished. But, when you watch classic Redskins (1981-1992) you always see a very involved and enthusiastic Joe Gibbs making phenomenal half time adjustments (offensively) and eventually coming back from a deficit.

Now, it seems that Joe Gibbs is somber and just oversees everything, not really being as involved as he once was. Why do we need someone like Al Saunders to run our offense, when we have Joe Gibbs? He is a product and perfected the "Air Coryell" System, he was the best damn offensive guru in the NFL from 1979 to 1992. I just hope history repeats itself, and this is just the drought before they hire someone like Lombardi, Allen, or Gibbs.

I cannot believe that you actually mean what you said in the post quoted above. You'd really rather see us play like a pathetic team than see us play like a decent team that just can't close? Wow.

Re: team hard to take

I really think something that would make this team click is to just say listen, everyone out there is a pro. Let them get out there and make the plays we brought them in here to do. There is no way that the Patriots or Colts run that ball on 3rd down yesterday. I think it is easier to play aggressive when we have the lead, if you lose, the fans understand what you were doing. I am honestly not sure if we even run that ball during the 2005 playoff run. Yesterday was a game full of emotions though, just for that team to step foot on that field made me proud to be a Redskins fan!

Re: team hard to take

Let's just chalk this up as a difficult week and move on. The game wasn't even close to being important this week. We lost a young man who was maturing as a player and more importantly as a person, it is very evident that Sean Taylor was held in very high regard by his teammates and coaches, and he will be so dearly missed. I'm willing to give the coaches and players a pass this week, there are just some things much more important than a little old game of football!

I hate to say it, but Coach Gibbs probably needs to retire for his own sake. He's 66 years old and should be enjoying the golden years of his life. I just truly hate to see things happen like what went down yesterday, it just adds extra sadness to an already extremely sad week. Joe Gibbs is probably the most decent and down to earth sports figure I've ever seen, you just have to feel for the man right now.
