Once he passes the physical he'll be official. He's signed, sealed, and not yet delivered.

OR we move springs to safety and let carlos get beat deep but have someone to cover his ass

I just wonder if Smoot will play like he did here the 1st time and not like he did in Minny. Lets face it. This could be great or it good be bad. I just hope were not calling for his head in September.

Re: CB Fred Smoot Signed (Still Not Official)

this just in.....we need to get springs signed at a cheaper cap number and just convert his salary into bonus money. springs is an elite corner in this league....he is hurt alot but he is elite...carlos will never be close to springs capability and silky johnson isnt the answer either....if we go into the season with rodgers and smoot as our starting corners i am throwing up the white flag! talk about an all out bombing raid....just wait to see the outrage after 2 games those two corners play together.......

If we have smoot, springs, and rogers heading into the draft do we think about drafting someone like leon hall,, so that in a couple years when springs is gone our secondary becomes a sure thing? It seems like we've simply been trying to plug up holes back there, it'd sure be nice to get some consistancy

Re: CB Fred Smoot Signed (Still Not Official)

Smoot is not capable of covering opponent's #1 WR. I remember Torry Holt burning him at will during one pre-season game, and he didn't play well in Minnesota....I don't buy into the idea that he will play better under GWilliams' scheme.

Still not nearly as ugly as Wright and Rogers.

i always reffer to that preseason game against holt...he also got blown up by steve smith when smith did the love boat endzone dance hahaha....but i think g wills scheme does help him because he had a good year with the skins but i am still shakey with him if we dont have springs....springs should be the priority not smoot

Re: CB Fred Smoot Signed (Still Not Official)

That preseason game against the Rams was a load of crap, I can't believe people are still falling for that.

GW said after that game that he left the corners all alone with no help over the top to bring them down a notch and to test them. They weren't flat out burnt.
