Re: Portis Expected to Be Placed on IR

Suddenly trading for Duckett doesn't seem so dreadful does it?

Bottom line, I'd love for him to be out there playing, as would my fantasy football team (glad I stashed Campbell or Betts on my roster all year by the way), but I'd rather he have the surgery and have more time to recover than have a Shawn Springs-type situation all over again next season with Portis

Without a doubt. We've seen time and time again that Betts is no Portis, but he also isn't a horrible back either. Add in to the fact that we have a great change of pace back with Duckett, and we're doing alright for the rest of the season.

When Duckett gets more than 2 carries in a game, then I would agree it was a good trade.

for the most part. but from what i can gather it seems this is, at least in part, throwing in the towel on the season. i doubt they'd put him on IR were we in the hunt.

it is nice to have TJ though at this point. maybe he can prove something.

Re: Portis Expected to Be Placed on IR

CP is supposed to have shoulder surgery following his hand surgery that he just had. I want him to get everything fixed ASAP so he can get back in playing shape for the beginning of Campbell's first full year in '07.

It'll be sad watching the Skins without Portis...but I am excited to see Campbell. MAYBE...playing without Portis will make it tougher and BETTER experience for Jason, and when CP returns next year, it'll make things seem EASIER for Campbell. This COULD actually benefit JC...sort of in a way of getting some real tests early on. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger.

I don't think Portis will have any ill feelings towards the team like Lavar. He knows his health and knows he needs to get fixed up. He's not being benched for a childish argument with Gibbs, it's for saving his career and being able to play without pain.

I don't expect to see him play in the preseason though.

like the contract value for whatever non-redskin team that ends up signing him :/

"PLAYOFFS???????????????? your'e talking about PLAYOFFS?" jim mora

but seriously, redskins and playoffs should not be mentioned in the same sentence consdering the 6 losses and "rookie" (2nd year) QB. 8 wins should be the goal

Re: Portis Expected to Be Placed on IR

campbell is gonna need portis to be in great health next year so he can catch blitzers, and take some of the heat off of him.i think it is a good move to put portis on IR,this is been a shitty season for portis, and the longer he recovers from the physical toll it has taken on him this season, the better!

With bigger, cheaper and less skilled backs like Duckett, Betts and Sellers why would you want Portis to block blitzers?
