Re: Sportsline Power Rankings
The great thing about the NFL is that no one really knows what is going to happen, since everything in the offseason is based on last year and "predictions." I don't know where "Frisco" Pete Prisco is pulling his predictions from, I'm guessing it rhymes with pass, but this guy is just an idiot.
To say that we signed a tight end who won't scare anyone down the field, I mean what team is he talking about? Isn't that the role currently occupied by H-back extraordinaire Chris Cooley? It's clear to me that he has no idea what our team needs are, which anyone who saw the playoff game versus Seattle could plainly see. We need a pass rushing defensive end (Carter, check), an upgrade at #2 wideout (Lloyd and Randle-El, check) and a blocking tight end with good hands to catch the short routes that Royal couldn't (Fauria, check). I mean he's got the Jaguars above us, so clearly he's using the Frisco Pete method of ranking teams. No skin off my back though. |

Re: Sportsline Power Rankings
We heard the same crap from the naysayers when we signed guys like Moss, Griffin, and Springs.
Those guys are now cornerstones of the team, when are jerks like Prisco going to open their eyes and realize this is not the 2000 Redskins anymore. The past few seasons under Gibbs they have made some really stellar free agent moves. Whether or not they overpaid isn't what's being debated here, but what can't be debated is the fact Gibbs and company have radically overhauled the roster and infused it with talent, youth and playmakers. And these are all guys that are hungry to win, have great work ethics, and will run through walls for Gibbs and this staff. F Prisco and F all the mediots that love to hate. |

Re: Sportsline Power Rankings
Here's my take on it:
As a complete team, I think the Skins win. Their one POTENTIAL weakness is Brunnell/QB Position. If this machine were being run by McNabb, Brady or Hasselback, then it would be "book your flights to Detroit guys". As it is, Brunnell may have enough gas in the tank to get us there, but I don't think it's a given. As for the rest of the NFC East, I just see too many holes. I think the window has closed on Phil., they are older and a bit slower. I don't think their FA additions go all that far towards improvement. IMO McNabb is now damaged goods in that locker and perhaps the team has lost some of its focus. As for NYG, I think last year was a fluke and that this year they sink in the W/L column - again, Tiki is getting up there and he IS the motor that drives that offense. I don't think Eli's got "it" - I'll believe it when I see it, but I think he will be an average QB. As for Dallas, I just dunno - I think your O-line is still gonna be a problem. Also, similar to us, you have an old, somewhat fragile, QB and, IMO, your back up situation is worse than ours (yes, my rose colored Campbell glasses are firmly in place). Skins Cowboys (Maybe Wildcard if O-Line protects Bledsoe and opens some holes) Phil (7-9 to 9-7) NYG (no more than 7 wins) If anyone wants to the supporting data for my conclusions, I am afraid that I am relying on the super secret stats used only by professionals and, if I were to reveal them to you, I would have to kill you.

I'm not saying they'll drop out of the playoffs. But right now the Colts don't have someone that can fill EJ's shoes. I think because of all the records Manning put up, Edge was really overlooked. But the team was at its best when he was healthy and producing. So I think right now, #2 is too high for Indy.

Re: Sportsline Power Rankings
I agree. Elite backs are what opened up that passing game.
And JoeRedskin, I agree with your analysis, but I really don't see the Cowboys being second in the division. I think the Giants will be right behind us. Eli definitely doesn't have IT, and Tiki will be a force again next year, but I don't think they are worse than the Eagles or Cowboys.

About your comments on T. Glenn man he's way better than Lloyd and Randall combined he's a bigger treath you're just blinded by the TD randall made at the superbowl but he only had 35 catches being the #2 receiver last season, Even Lloyd being the #1 receiver in SF never came close to Glenns numbers. Actually we have verry similar offenses we have 2 great receiver corps with playmakers in each side Moss, TO we have 2 other capable reciever Randall, Lloyd- Glenn, Crayton, pro bowl TE Witten and Cooley, great RB Portis, JJ and Barber. and Good but old qbs Brunell and Bledsoe. The biggest difference I see is that we play a more control prevent offense and with saulder I see a more agressive 1 we will just have to waith and see how it ends. |

On our subject e have made improvements at our Oline but I agree with you that our future will be determine on how those guys complement each other. The only thing that might keep both of our teams out of the big dance is our QB we just have to see ho much gas they have left at the end of the year because last year they both fell on their back the last 3 games (including Playoffs) your D was the one that kept you in not your Qb. so our future it's also held to our QB's. |

As for Lloyd, seeing as how the 49ers had the worst passing game in the league with 118.6 yards per game, Lloyd's 48 catches for 733 yards and 5 tds don't seem quite so mundane anymore. Especially considering the qbs he had throwing him the ball, as I don't think anyone will confuse Alex Smith and Tim Rattay for Joe Montana and Steve Young. And Lloyd's 89 yard catch came on the Cowboys, with Terrence Newman chasing him the whole way. I think he outplayed your girl Terry Glenn that day, 2 tds to 0, 142 yards to 137. Maybe I'm wrong, I sure hope you show me where though. I would keep on, but you lost me when you compared Clinton Portis, who has three 1500 yard seasons in four years (1300 was his off year) to Julius Jones who has yet to crack 1000 in either of his. I'm not knocking JJ, but he's not in the same class as Portis right now. Any mention of Patrick Crayton must be qualified with "as long as Sean Taylor isn't around." So Patrick Crayton is a capable receiver "as long as Sean Taylor isn't around." Or do u need proof? |
