Yeah but you can trade your normal picks and use the compensatories instead.

The haunting part about Ramsey's upcoming departure is the success of departed Skins QBs.

More market research I see. Well, I am just going to go sit in my armchair and see how many people were, in fact, pwned.

BTW - I thought that damn kid sounded to smart to be 14, I'm betting he was only about 16 or 17.

I wonder who they were pwned by?

That Guy, I think you're getting confused. I'm saying that we've got two 6th rounders, one is our own and one is from Rod Gardner. Now we're going to have two 5th rounders this year, if this Ramsey deal goes through. Then maybe throw in a pick or two in the 5th or 6th for compensatory picks, and we've got a slew of picks in those later rounds. That's nice trade ammo to have if you see someone available in the 4th round that you really want, you can trade your two 5th rounders or something like that to slide up and grab him.

Or you can use your compensatory picks to draft someone and trade the rights to them? Seems like that might be a way around that rule.

Re: Ramsey to the Jets Nearly Done

we're not getting comp picks in the 3rd, 4th, 5th or 6th rounds. we'll probably end up with a single 7th round comp pick.

SPLITTING HAIRS!

Point being that with the two 5ths and two 6ths at our disposal, we can slide up a bit to grab someone we really want.

Re: Ramsey to the Jets Nearly Done

yeah, of course. moving up in the 2nd day isn't quite as awesome as moving up in the first day though
at least the jets 5th is very high, so moving into the 4th wouldn't be hard.

Re: Ramsey to the Jets Nearly Done

The 5th rounder pick will be pretty high in that round and the conditional pick can sweeten the deal. Maybe another team will come along and offer a better deal.

Nobody really gets it, what is our record drafting under Gibbs past the 3rd rd? NOTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Everyone is so confident that that will change with Ramseys pick though, yea right. He's worth more as a backup to us than anything we would bring back with whatever a 5th can bring back. I also find it funny that some are trying to make a case that we could get a conditional 3rd pick next year, first he's garbage, but he will play his way into a 3rd rd conditional pick? Give me a break!

What do we do if Brunell goes down early, or continues his decline as a NFL QB? And the kid is not ready to go, no way I give Ramsey away.

I also agree with the article that say's the Jets are not a good fit, not because he can't handle the pressure there, but I am not sold on the new coaching staff coming in, something tells me they will be like deer in headlights, he should try and land himself in miami.

Re: Ramsey to the Jets Nearly Done

offiss, it may be premature to blow up on Gibbs after two drafts for not finding second day gold in the draft. It is talent that needs development. Last year's 4th rounder went on IR, two others were at the bottom of a deep LB depth chart. In 2004, we drafted Wilson and Molinaro, both of whom got playing time that year.

Anyone could cherry pick late round gems that had an impact - after the fact. I just checked last year's draft, and players picked after Manny White had almost no impact that would have helped us. The only names I recognized were Ryan Fitzpatrick (the Rams QB we murderered) and Darren Sproles (a good backup tailback - which we have three of).
