Glad we will have professionals looking at QBs.

Couple things here.

Mitch wasn't a safe traditional pick. The dude has ONE fucking year of college experience as a starter. That's it. He wasn't even good enough to beat out the starter 3 of the 4 years at UNC. You don't give up a kings ransom to move up and draft a dude with one year of college starting experience.

Secondly, the Chiefs team was in a much better situation to bring in a rookie QB. They had a solid OL and running game, and a good coach that had good experience with putting QBs in positions for them to succeed. Also, Mahomes did not play the entire year his rookie year except for ONE game in which he only started b/c they sat Alex Smith for the playoffs.

You really can't compare the two situations. The problem with most teams is the continue to draft these QBs and put them into shit situations and expect something miraculous.

Bottom line: If you don't have a OL and decent running game, you are going to do nothing but destroy any young QB you trot out there.

Sad that Miami is fucked due to all their defensive injuries. They aren't going to be able to recover from that kind of production off the field. You need defense to win the SB.

KC can sneak into the SB if their defense plays like this.

Miami has had too many injuries and their offense is all speed no power. They got bullied tonight and last week

Without a salary cap, KC would be a dynasty.
Thank god they can’t afford WRs.

Re: Around the NFL: Wildcard weekend 2024

My comment was more about taking the safe pick vs developing a guy with a higher ceiling. Maye might be more of a traditional QB but Daniels might have a higher ceiling in the right environment. Again, we have professional talent evaluators now so hopefully we get it right.

I don’t buy the “destroying” a young QB narrative. Sure if the team’s bad then you aren’t going to have much success but that doesn’t destroy a player mentally.
Aikman and Montana had a combined 3 wins their rookie years and they managed to survive without PTSD.
Even Trubisky bounced back to have an 11-3 season with the bears in his 3rd year.

I think we both agree that to be a championship team you need a complete team from owner down to waterboys.

Re: Around the NFL: Wildcard weekend 2024

For all of the talk about Mahomes being down this year (which he was) he was motivated to show everyone why he’s the best QB in the league still. There isn’t many guys I’d take over him in the history of the NFL

Well he just stopped Dak and Dallas on the 1st drive. Packers look hyped. This could be a good game.

Dak looked like he was being ultra aggressive with his passes and getting rid of the ball super quick. Paid the price bigtime there.
