I'd been thinking we've been losing ground to the French lately. OK, I went overboard... but it's my favorite genre. Last edited by itvnetop; 08-17-2012 at 03:13 AM. |

Re: Your All-Time Favorite Movies
Here's a nifty sub-genre: Chick flicks for guys.
BringBackJoeT already mentioned one of mine- True Romance. I also nominate "The Secretary." |

Usually films will say in their ratings if there's a rape scene in it which then gives you the option of going to see it or not. And while it may make us squirm and feel incredibly uncomfortable, I have no problem with it so long as no one was really hurt and it has a point within the storyline. Shock films are meant to do exactly that. The Human Centipede, The Hills Have Eyes (remake. Which was crappy honestly), Hostel series, Saw series. I mean all these things have gratuitous violence/shock. Although Saw may be in a category of its own because the overarching storyline of the entire series is actually interesting. edit: Oh yeah, and Oldboy. Wanna be shocked. Watch Oldboy. Koreans are crazy man. But its probably one of the best movies I've ever seen. With a twist!

Please, go on... your moral high ground is a place I really aspire to climb. (You also may want to re-assess your spoiler, which was obviously intentional. It's not your call to judge what should and shouldn't be left for movie viewers to know beforehand.) Last edited by itvnetop; 08-17-2012 at 07:51 PM. |

And I wonder what mredskins thinks of Irreversible. The hallway scene is much, much worse than the scene he's talking about. But there's no way to dispute the fact that Gaspar Noe is considered an adept film-maker by many. And totally co-sign on Oldboy. I was pissed that there was going to be a remake, but I'm actually interested now that Spike Lee and Elizabeth Olsen are on board. |

You can get pissy with me for not liking that film but you are going to have a hard time getting others to agree with that film is anything but complete garbage. Also i believe you have a health mind that was uncalled for; sorry. That film just really really rubs me the wrong way and i love the horror genr.

Point taken and thanks for the apology. And I've got no problem whatsoever with people hating or being offended by a film. I only took umbrage with the aforementioned correlation.

Re: Your All-Time Favorite Movies
Saw it many, many years ago on late night television, and it truly scared me. One of the all-time great, and underrated, horror flicks.

Re: Your All-Time Favorite Movies
Pulp Fiction is and always will be my favorite of all time
40 year old virgin Step Brothers Bad Santa Batman Trilogy National Lampoons Christmas Vacation Superbad Forgetting Sarah Marshall Collateral Wedding Crashers Die Hards I Love You, Man Terminator 2 Bourne movies (not the new one though) I'll also say that IMDB.com has a top 250 list of their 'best' all time movies. This past summer I watched movies that I hadn't seen before that people say 'Oh C'mon How have you NOT seen that?!?' and I've watched almost all of the top 100 and I must say the best ones that I recommend are; - Beverly Hills Cop - Ferris Bueller's Day Off - Speed - The Prestige - Green Mile - Good, Bad, and the Ugly - Full Metal Jacket I DONT recommend (thats on that list) - Natural Born Killers - Deer Hunter - Children of Men - City of God (or atleast its not the 20th best movie of all time) - Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind - A Clockwork Orange - Lock Stock and two smoking barrels
