World Cup 2010: Brick-by-brick fussball - England 1-1 USA | Video | Football | guardian.co.uk

Without Rio Ferdinand anchoring the back, they looked a bit lost. Glen Johnson played very well, but the rest of the defense was lacking. It'll be up to Terry and Cole to step it up.

A lot of pressure will be put upon Cote d'Ivoire's Salomon Kalou if Drogba can't go. But you're right, they will be hard pressed to score if Drogba doesn't play.

Terry's a crappy human being. He deserves everything he gets.

That's hilarious! I doubt Kalou will do much...besides, he's an indecisive bitch.

I certainly don't disagree, and I'm not an England fan. However, to write them off is a bit premature.

Les Bleus looked like utter crap against Uruguay. I don't want to see another lapse like in 2002. Can't wait for Laurent Blanc to take over the squad, should have done it after Euro 2008...

OK, they need to watch tapes after games and hand out yellow cards that carry-on to the next game. All this faking injury shit is pissing me off... Ronaldo is one big bitch.

I have real tried to watch this but is just not my cup of tea. It is like watching hockey on slow motion. When the have the ball at mid-field and are just kicking it around I want to pull my hair out from the boredom.

Very impressed with N.K. against Brazil...I just hope those players don't lose their lives due to a glitch in Lead Kim's telapathic communication device.

Re: The Official 2010 FIFA World Cup Thread

I was at my company's Corporate office today, so I didn't get a chance to watch any of the 3 matches today (did have match trackers up, and did catch highlights of the New Zealand/Slovakia match on ESPN not too long ago), but I heard the Ivory Coast/Portugal match was absolutely horrendous. Was impressed with Slovakia putting pressure on the Kiwis all match long, and was really impressed with the way Vladimir Weiss moved the ball.

My boss did pull up the Brazil/North Korea match on ESPN3 before I left this afternoon and we saw Maicon's brilliant goal. That was a sick kick. But it seems that North Korea wasn't the pushover Brazil or the rest of the world thought they'd be.

I'm with ya. It's worse than baseball. A lot worse.

I wouldn't go that far, soccer players actually run around and do stuff.

I understand the feeling. But my friends in soccer-mad countries say the same about our American football: "Where's the action? All they do is stand around in huddles!"

I rather watch a 40 second huddle then 15 minutes of kicking a ball around mid field but to each is own.

Re: The Official 2010 FIFA World Cup Thread

I heard on the radio this morning that there was 1 shot in the Nigeria game. Not one goal, ONE SHOT ON GOAL the whole game!

Soccer is more pathetic than I thought. Apparently, this is not the only time this has happened this tournament AND there are a lot of games where there were 2 total shots on goal by a team.

I've noticed almost every score is 1-0 or worse yet...1-1.

Re: The Official 2010 FIFA World Cup Thread

Huge upset with the Swiss beating Spain. 64% possession, 24 shots (8 on goal), zero goals, and a bunch of ticked off Spaniards.
