Re: 2012-13 Around the NBA thread

Sacramento for most of the Kings' stay there has had among the best, most passionate fans with sell out attendance. It's like the Browns because one city is losing its beloved team to another city that lost their own beloved team

Stern did not want a team back in Seattle. He's not an advocate of this move

SLAM ONLINE | » David Stern Hopes Seattle Gets an NBA Team Within 5 Years

Quote:
The city of Seattle recently approved a plan to build a new arena that would house pro basketball and hockey teams. NBA commissioner David Stern says that he’d like to see a hoops team return to Seattle within five years. Per the Boston Globe: “Commissioner David Stern offered this little nugget on the future of basketball in Seattle, which just approved a new arena plan when talking to reporters in Milan, Italy. ‘It would be my hope that within the time frame that you mentioned, five years, that if everything works out perfectly, there would be a new arena and new team in Seattle. That’s always, for the board of governors, but I know that many governors are favorably inclined.’”

David Stern's final act as NBA commissioner: Promote the myth of David Stern - Yahoo! Sports

Quote:
Between now and his departure, Stern is determined to get a franchise back into Seattle, league sources said. He has become a strong ally of Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer's group to bring back the NBA there. Ballmer's group has been trying to get the Maloof family to sell the Sacramento Kings, so that the franchise can eventually play in a new arena in Seattle.

Re: 2012-13 Around the NBA thread

He should have gone to Brooklyn. Better fit (no diva like Kobe to deal with) and better talent overall.

Plus, he would be the man in that town, not half the man like he is in his shared spotlight in LA.

I question his effort too after his statements about wanting to get into acting after basketball. I guess that explains his choice of LA over any other team, but I think it also explains his recent lack of success.

He's an impressive physical specimen, but I wouldn't want him on my team. He needs to be pampered to be happy.

Good to see Javale doing his thing somewhere else for a change.

Anybody know why the Wizards game on CSN's alternate channel isn't working?

Same reason the Maloof brothers sent their lottery pick they drafted this year to a team for lesser value.

Money.

This Yahoo article absolutely destroys the Maloof brothers on this trade. He's right though.

Seems everybody knows this was about money. It generally is.

I've been watching the Wiz a lot more lately with Wall healthy again, and all I can say is that I wish he had gotten back sooner. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad he took the time he did to get fully healthy, but this turned into a wasted season with him on the bench for 30+ games.

Thank you OKC for James Harden! Led by arguably the best backcourt in the NBA, I'm predicting the Rockets make it all the way to Western Conference Finals.

Eh I don't watch much NBA, but I don't see them beating the spurs or thunder to get to the finals

Maybe not in a 7 game series, but they did beat the Thunder, Heat, and Spurs in the regular season.

LOL isn't the point of your post saying that you think the Rockets will reach the Western Conference finals? Therefore they're going to have to play at least 1 of these teams to get there. Winning 1 game is easy; its 4 that's the challenge. I'm saying they won't win 4 games whenever they play either of those teams in the playoffs.

Right. I said maybe they won't win in a 7 game series.
