Lucky - I have a friend who works at Giant just returning carts from the parking lot. He is union and I he makes almost $20 an hour with health. This guy is somewhat of a space cadet and couldnt work an office job or even a cashier job. He lives in a townhouse similar to mine but has a roommate.

Not true . I worked for Giant for 31 years . I know the Union that represents the stores .What you're describing fell under the contract people had maybe 15-20 years ago.

No one is "just pulling carts"(at Giant) and is making $20 and hour and if they are pulling carts they are part time. Many if not all the Giant associates got "Covid pay" for a while . Yet even if they did why is it that you think they are unworthy of making $20 hrs an hour ?

As for your Ex , all I can say is if she wants a ful ltime job she has to earn it. Giant has been begging for people but all jobs are starting at part time and you work your way up to the Full time positions.Been that way atr Giant and Safeway for years.

Question, your ex? You say she has been interviewed alot, yet no one will hire full time, she won't take part time?I mean isn't a little better that nothing .isn't that what you're ranting about?

Re: Coronavirus (political)

The maximum benefit that Americans could see during that four-month period is about $2,149. But because Trump is ordering a payroll tax deferral, not a cut, the taxes will eventually be due at a later date.

To pause payroll taxes, the Trump administration is employing a section of the tax code that allows the Treasury secretary to postpone certain tax-related deadlines during a federally declared disaster. It's the same authority the Treasury Department used earlier in the year to delay the April 15 tax-filing deadline until July 15.

The move technically makes it a deferral of payroll taxes — not a suspension — although Trump has pledged to pursue a permanent cut to the payroll taxes.

”This fake tax cut would also be a big shock to workers who thought they were getting a tax cut when it was only a delay,” Sen.Ron Wyden, the top Democrat on the Senate Finance Committee, said in a statement. “These workers would be hit with much bigger payments down the road.”

Wait .. what?

We'd have to pay back the taxes? WTF, no thanks man just take it out now and not later when I dont have the money.

This payroll tax cut has nothing to do with COVID as Trump has wanted this from day 1. I honestly think he just wants it bc it companies dont have to pay to match it so ti helps companies. What does he care is SS or medicare deficits bloom ... he will be out of office before shit hits the fan.

I hate Trump with every cell in my body. I will piss on his grave. That is a promise.

President Donald Trump is said to not be worried about setting the US up for a massive debt crisis because he doesn't think it'll erupt until after he leaves office.

Sources close to the presidency told The Daily Beast that Trump had repeatedly shrugged off any concerns about the rising national debt because it was projected to come to a head only after he would finish a second term.

During a 2017 briefing with senior officials, Trump responded to a presentation of charts and graphics by saying, "Yeah, but I won't be here," according to a source The Daily Beast said witnessed the comment.

Cutting payroll taxes is a cut to Social Security. Bad idea.

I agree, but I think the stimulus to people who didn’t lose a job not a great idea either.

Dumb was giving people extra money and incentivizing folks not to return to work...in no world does this make any sense.

I think the most important is getting the money to small business affected and people directly affected in service industries. I’d say get the money to the states and let them parse it with federal oversight.

We act like this is a normal economic crisis...this didn’t happen do to any economic issue.

You better thank god this happened in an economy which was steamrolling. Many be in a world of fuckin hurt if it was in a middling, recovering or stalling economic conditions

Unemployment is for when you're out of a job , if you are called back and don't go,the Company is to contact unemployment and your money stops becuase you quit .It's simple ...you can not choose to stay out of work and still get unemployment ,if they are ....that's on the state.

"This will have zero impact on Social Security," Trump told reporters on Sunday before boarding Marine One. "We protect Social Security."

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/tru...ocial-security

“On the assumption I win, we are going to be terminating the payroll tax after the beginning of the new year,” Trump said during a White House press briefing on Wednesday evening.

But a high-level White House official told Fox News there have been no discussions about abolishing the tax, which is used to fund Social Security. Instead, the official said the administration is pursuing a plan to forgive the taxes that got deferred this year as a result of the executive measure.

https://www.foxbusiness.com/money/wh...t-not-on-table

1. Trump says something dumb.

2. White House sources try to put out the fire (not on the table, it was sarcasm, he was just asking a question ..)

Re: Coronavirus (political)

No job offer, part time or full time, for the grocery stores. She interviewed multiple times with the 3 ones near us. She had a 8 year gap in employment and is now 1 month away from celebrating 2 years sober.

She just got her drivers license, taking an online pharmacy tech program. She is putting on weight, she went from doctors giving her 1 year to live to now being super healthy.

My point was, I see all these signs hiring (pre covid) and wonder why people cant find jobs. Then I see her experience of struggling to find even part time offers. If people think there are full time jobs just waiting for the unemployed ... that is not the case.

Its part time if you are lucky.

She is making tremendous progress and she will catch her break. She just cant give up.

To be fair, she always worked before she stopped working 8 years ago but all as a bartender and im sure she could have got a bartender/server job 2 years ago but that would have not worked for her sobriety.

No, the CDC did not ‘quietly adjust’ US coronavirus deaths

just amazes me we have a president that tweets out fake news on the regular

Re: Coronavirus (political)

President Trump announced a vaccine distribution plan Wednesday and predicted availability as early as October, directly contradicting a much longer timeline offered earlier in the day by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) director.

Dr. Robert Redfield told a panel of Senate lawmakers not to expect a coronavirus vaccine to become widely available to most of the U.S. population until the summer of 2021 -- publicly rebuffing Trump’s repeated assertion that a vaccine might be available before the November election.

"I think he made a mistake when he said that. It's just incorrect information," Trump said Wednesday in response to a question from Fox News' John Roberts. "I believe he was confused."

CDC'S REDFIELD CONTRADICTS TRUMP ADMIN ON COVID VACCINE TIMING, SAYS SOMETIME IN 2021

Trump also refuted Redfield’s statements that wearing a mask may be more important than a potential vaccine because there’s clear scientific evidence they work.

"I might even go so far as to say that this face mask is more guaranteed to protect me against Covid than when I take a Covid vaccine,” Redfield said, holding up his face mask before the Senate panel.

Trump said he spoke to Redfield afterwards and thinks the CDC director could have confused the question and answered "incorrectly."

"I think maybe he misunderstood it," Trump said, adding that "the mask is a mixed bag."

In an apparent attempt to clarify his comments on Wednesday, Redfield tweeted later that a "vaccine is the thing that will get Americans back to normal everyday life," but also reiterated that the best defense against the contagion currently is wearing a mask.

The coronavirus contradictions came as Trump confirmed at least one of his White House staffers tested positive for the virus. Trump didn't name the aide but said "it's not anybody that was near me."

Just making stuff up for election purposes.

Fifty-two percent of adults say they don't trust the president's vaccine comments, while just 26 percent say they do. Twenty percent say they are "not aware" whether they trust what the president has said about a vaccine.

President Trump is selling hope to his base.

Me personally, I'm not sure who to trust, the doctor who spent his entire life studying medicine and rising to the head of the CDC or the businessman who shits in a gold toilet.
