Re: Redskins free agent signings 2018
I think they can, but it'll be tough. I really hate the Scandrick signing. Take that away and McPhee and Hankins is no problem. And I'd much rather have McPhee than Scandrick.

I wonder if they consider resigning Gallette to have another OLB and move him inside. That would work for me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

He is more of an ILB in a 4-3 who can play down near the line in an over front. (Not my idea, Cooley and others are beating this drum on 980 every time his name comes up) To be blunt, I don't think he is a good fit any where in our current defensive scheme based on what he showed last year. Do you think he is fast enough, and quick enough to play ILB in a 3-4? No idea where he would fit in nickel.

The more I think about it, the more our roster fits a 4-3 more than a 3-4: -Even if we sign Hankins, who could be a nose, he played DT so far, he's not a great pass rusher but he could fit a 4-3, the Colts mainly wanted to save cap -Smith and Kerrigan can't cover, so they effectively are DEs more than OLBs (Cooley even said Kerrigan could move inside on the line) -Anderson is not an edge rusher, so with Murphy gone and Galette unsigned, we currently have only 2 "OLBs" (am I forgetting anyone?) -Brown and Anderson with Foster in the middle would work. Vigil is a solid back up, Spaight had his flashes, Harvey Clemons is a nice hybrid LB, we may need one more guy for depth (Don't tell me we already run many plays in a 4-3, we don't, we run many plays in a 4-2, which isn't good against the run) DLs: Hankins, Allen, Ioannidis, Kerrigan, Smith, McGee and Lanier rotating LBs: Brown and Anderson outside, Foster in the middle Doesn't it sound good ?

Let's go with your avenue - we let Smith go, who will replace him? Galette? Anderson? |

Re: Redskins free agent signings 2018
Pretty ambiguous tweet. We will see. I'ld like it if that meant they worked out the numbers for him and Hankins together. I am sure they were trying to balance the DL spending.

If Preston Smith is below average then 95% of our roster is dog doo doo.

Re: Redskins free agent signings 2018
I'm no hatter but I do not like Smith as a player. Please go to Post #514 on this thread and listen to what Cooley had to say about Smith, particularly about how poorly he played the run in a game where he had a good showing as a pass rusher. That Cooley is a real hatter! Where does he get off wanting Smith to play the pass and the run in the same game?
