Re: Our next coach??
If anyone deserves to stay it's Sherm Lewis. He has single handedly turned our offense somewhat around and has them unpredictable. Everytime Zorn gets his hands on the team they fail.....ie; 2 min. drills.

Re: Our next coach??
Sherm Lewis probably saved Devin Thomas' career. If nothing else, Vinny owes him a gift basket, and a month's worth of gas cards for that.

Re: Our next coach??
Mariucci-HC; Lewis-OC?
DT has been very effusive in his praise of Lewis...now if we can just get Kelly going

Re: Our next coach??
And our next coach will be:
Next Redskins coach will be... | Truth & Rumors | FanNation If it happens this way then: 1) We KNOW Lil D has learned absolutely nothing over ten years of ownership. I mean i've said a million times already Shanahan is probably the only big name coach who'd work for Lil D because 1) the rest don't want the "Snyder" blemish on their resume and 2) Shanahan has always been about the money. 2) The team will remain mediocre at best and downright awful most of the time. Vinny's continued presence simply verifies the tiny man in the owner's box can't put his ego aside and bring in a legitimate professional. I tend to think this will be the pivotal "off-season" in Snyder's ownership i.e. staying the course now probably means his ownership will be a failure throughout. When you look at Steinbrenner's history he seemed to learn after a decade or so he wasn't the smarter person in baseball, or within the organization, or in the room even. Snyder's reputation, if he has one yet, is his unyielding belief in the superiority of himself and his own intelligence. 3) And finally there's the lame reality for those of us who enjoy consistent, quality football that we'll be forced to "follow" another team alongside the circus that is Redskins Park. Actually not so bad. The older I get I appreciate character and excellence more and more in people and it's cool to follow those types through their careers...and especially so in the NFL cuz, well, football will always be the greatest sport.

Re: Our next coach??
I agree with keeping Sherm on.. possibly in a "larger role" ...or more like a "larger title"? Off Coord. perhaps... and I have a gut feeling that they are going to bring in Chucky.
If nothing else, Snyde is going to try to keep his revenue-machine rolling. He knows that cannot continue with Cerrato. The best thing he could do is back-off and bring in someone strong as G.M.. How many decades will it take for him to realize that our beloved Skins are not his fantasy team? |

Re: Our next coach??
There's so much talk of it being nearly a lock that Shanahan will be the next coach here...but I can't shake the feeling that something else is up. That there's someone else who's being secretly lined up.

Re: Our next coach??
I put it in the "who stay and who goes" thread but some one called in, in regards to DS staying late at Redskins park last night and of course the rumors are that Shanahan is a lock and DS was finalizing specifics.

Re: Our next coach??
The more I hear it's a lock the more I doubt it happening. Remember Grilliams and Fassel were 'locks' at one point in '08.

Re: Our next coach??
Why? It appears that DS is not making any big moves until after the season. That gives him a month to work all of that out without burning the midnight oil.

Re: Our next coach??
It sounded more like DS was meeting with people in regards to when or how he wants the announcement made. Again.....rumor mill. Supposedly DS was up late meeting with someone or some people whome no one knows who they were. Secret squarl stuff ya know. Trust me I'm not estatic about the idea....I would have prefered Marty and son, but I'll take Shanahan and Co. over Zorn, Fassel, and Marriucci. Heck I'd take Jimmy Johnson over them.

Re: Our next coach??
I think it makes sense. Snyder is likely close to panic mode. None of the big-name, quality coaches will return his phone calls, and he needs to make a big splash both to keep the fans interested and to satisfy his ego. Shanahan just wants one more huge payday, and he's a smart guy. He'll take a pile of money and stick around a few years till Snyder (and probably Cerrato still) get bored, frustrated or whatever and then Shanahan will retire.
