This seems like the logical thing to do but a new staff is coming in here. Why would they stay loyal to a project they didn't draft? But let's say we get Young, a new staff isn't going to hand DH the job. He's going to have competition, either from a vet or a mid round pick.

You hire a competent indwpendent GM, let him hire a HC , let him hire his OC, then let them decide what QB is this franchise's future. PERIOD

Yeah I'm all for a new QB but that's with the right Regime and Staff in place

I was listening to Meyer talk about this a few weeks ago. Basically he was saying that DH was just better and farther along than Burrow. Apparently Burrow was an all state basketball player so he wasn't totally focused all in on football.

Meyer speaks very highly of DH all the time, said he's "the best QB I've coached"

I guess Meyer doesn't rate fundamentals very high.

Re: The Haskins Threat

Going through Dwayne's pass chart so far this season on throws 10+ Yards or more he is pretty bad.

He's 23/58 (39%) for 413 yards

1TD 6 INTS.

Passes 10 Yards or less :

65/91 (59%) for 558 yards

2TDs 1 INT

The downfield passing has got to get better for him or else he won't last long

How does it change if you take out his first two fill in appearances? I think most of his INTs came early on.

No way his stats go nothing but way up taking away those 2 games. He was always a project and we suck and our HC (that didn't even want him) got fired and our play calling is now from the stone ages.

I think he is making progress and definitely enough to get at least 1 more year under a real coaching staff.

Haskins eats sacks, on pace for 70 if he played all season...

This is part of the reason, stared down his #1 read for too long, also had one earlier where he had Guice in the flats and got sacked.

That hasn't improved at all since the first game he appeared in. He needs to learn to throw the ball away when the situation dictates it. You can't have 5 seconds to throw in the NFL like at OSU.

Re: The Haskins Threat

Part of the reason he eats sacks is he doesn't move along in his read progressions quickly enough. Brees and Cousins are experts at going boom boom boom boom, they can get to the 4th target in the progression in 2 seconds.

Haskins takes 2 seconds per target (I'm making that up, but it feels that way). It's a sign he doesn't know the offense well.

Is it getting better, sure. But it's still not satisfactory. The rate at which he's improving isn't even satisfactory. I'm in the 'bust' camp.
