Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread

Are we planning on going two TE's this year? Or is Cooley moving back to H-back? SS, what were those off the field issues you alluded to earlier regarding Campbell? Gotta wonder what the heck is up with this pick.

Those who subscribe to the "best player available" philosophy shouldn't complain too much about the Davis pick. I personally think we shouldn't draft anyone at RB or TE, but Davis was projected to go higher.

I'm not one of those people. We have much bigger needs.

Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread

Fred Davis can play, that's for sure. But did we need him there? We can still get Campbell or Groves easily at 51 and the draft is deep enough at DB that I'm not too upset about not taking one there. But I don't know about passing those up for a TE

Blache must be like "Thanks for hooking me up guys"

Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread

Alright, a majority of you people who said... EWW I retract my previous statement.

Chris Cooley - HBack/TE
Fred Davis - TE/FB

Gotta have two good TE's at WCO. No doubt. He was an integral part of the Trojans. Reminds me of Cooley a little, with his size I mean.

Not a bad pick, would've waited till' the next pick if he was still available, and gone after Campbell, but maybe it'll end up like that, just reversed.

I had a feeling Jackson was headed to Philly.

Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread

To be rather honest, I don't like this selection of Fred Davis. We have other needs, we were pretty set at TE with Cooley and Yoder. Unless this coaching staff plans on moving him to fullback, or making him bulk up to see o-line I don't really see how Davis can contribute to this team.
