Unless you end up with Patrick Willis, Andre Johnson, and Carl Nicks with those draft picks it won't even start to compare to the impact a franchise QB brings to the table.

And I'm sorry but all of those second tier guys at QB (Foles, Weeden, Tannehill, Ossweiler, etc) are going to be dwarfed at the end of their careers by the acheivements of a certain Robert Griffin III.
This,

Also, we tried the build the line first, back in 2000's, what happened was we became a team good enough to draft in the middle of the pack, but never got the Franchise QB to go with it. Now, I know we need a solid line, but a true Franchise QB (and we would hope that's who we would be getting by "sacrificing" those picks), makes up for ALOT of team deficiencies. Look at the contenders, while they all have weaknesses, not one of them is thinking that their qb is a weakness (well maybe Flacco, but that is more fan speak I think). Eventually, if we want to be a consistent competitive team, you HAVE to get your qb. JG knew that, even though he did it with 3 diff qbs, none of them were slouches, and he went for JC imo because he knew he had to get one, and that was the best he could reach for. Shanahan knows it, that is why he went for McNabb, the fact that McNabb was a bust was a different problem.

Separately,

One other thing this team needs is a playmaker. Someone who makes other teams react to us. RGIII is the only player that I see us getting who remotely fits that bill. The top CB would be nice, but not a game changer. VJax would fit it, but someone has to get him the ball, OL/LB's none that we would get appear to be that playmaker who makes the other team sweat. For once, in like a zillion years, I would like other teams to be talking about having to find a way to contain one of our players.

RGIII Please.

All of them though? I would take RG3 over each and every one of them. But if you right now gave me RG3 or anyone in the field minus Luck, I'd have to take the field. It's a strong field.

Do you believe that any of the combined staffs of coaches responsible for drafting the many Overrated....underachieving.....savior QB's taken in the opening moments of the first round, thought at the time
hmmm, probably gonna' be a loser, bust wannabe, but what the hell. We'll go ahead and sling a handful of picks and players at him anyway.
I rather think they were ALL.......can't miss, sure things?

We need a stud QB...period. If MS says that guy is at #2, then I'm not sweating the picks we give up to get him. If it's someone else....fine.

This regime is proving to be quite competent and I trust they will make the right decision on who our QB of the future is.

(crossing fingers for RG3)

It's a damn shame that we didn't suck enough for this not to matter...

RG3 is a duck. Everyone else is a rabbit. Remind anyone else around here of anything?

Re: Yet Another QB Rumors Thread (Volume 9)

I think people forget how well MS/BA have done with some of the later round talent. Although, I really hope that however this trade ends up, I'd like for us to keep our second rounder this year (prob at the expense of next year's first rounder). I think our FO can get a solid starter out of that second rounder. Add this to RG3, and you have two talented young players (adding to the talented players we got last draft).

I do think that BA will not go overboard with this trade up. And because of this I am fine with this possibility of trading. Also, I don't think that a FA signing this offseason will totally offset not having picks, however, I feel the FA class this offseason is young enough to be around at least for 3 years.

Also, let's not forget the good young players we have on the roster:
Kerrigan, Trent Williams, Riley, Helu, Royster, Hank, Jenkins, Neild

And the young vets:
Orakpo, Davis, Josh Wilson, Kory L., S. Bowen, A. Carriker

Our team is pretty young, some still need to prove themselves. A lot of the guys I've mentioned should be around for a while, and I think some of them may develop into solid starters.

There is no way that we give that much up. The 2013 3rd is definitely overkill, and the 2nd/4th this year might be negotiated differently(but to the same effect).

Re: Yet Another QB Rumors Thread (Volume 9)

I think that we'll find out how much we have to give up after free agency ends. Lets say the browns get flynn and the dolphins get manning. Considering we would be the only feasible trade partner, i think we wouldnt have to give up more than two firsts, a second and a fourth.

that's why the speculation is that the deal will go down before free agency for the fact that the rams will get the most out of it that they can

Yeah, you just have to give up enough to compensate for the Rams not having their pick of Blackmon/Kalil.

The 2013 first rounder probably handles that compensation. Then beyond that, you just have to be willing to make the best offer. A one, a three, and a five? That's almost certainly going to be best offer. Question is, will the Rams pull the trigger if the Redskins offer something close to that, or do they wait for the market value of the pick to settle?
