I heard the Meyer talk on the radio this week. And not as just helping Dan find a HC but as consideration for the HC. It was Sheehan this AM. I forgot who on Monday earlier this week. Honestly i forget the details as the talking heads were vague but it was Meyer being considered for the HC position and not just as part of Dan's search committee.

Sheehan said this morning that Callahan is not going to be the HC next year. Ron Rivera is a potential. No word on Allen's fate.

Bruce isn't going anywhere until he decides to retire.

Re: Who will be the next coach of the Redskins and does it even freakin matter?

It looks to me that Dan Snyder is going to do things back-asswards once again in this coaching search. Again, I applaud him for seeking the counsel of football people he respects to conduct a hiring search. BUT he should be using them to identify his next GM and not a HC. For once, there needs to be cooperation and not conflict in football operations.

It should go like this:

1. Bruce Allen should be removed entirely from the organization.
2. Dan Snyder should hire his new GM.
3. The GM should hire the HC.
4. The HC should hire his coordinators and assistant coaches.

Makes sense in terms of compatibility doesn't it?

But NO!!! JLC reports today that Dan Snyder is focused on hiring a HC - not a GM - from the defensive side because he wants to retain O'Connell and Callahan. What for?! So they can run a 1930's style offense? So Callahan can put in place a run scheme that doesn't mesh with the passing game?

So, let's see what happens. Bruce Allen must go. That is a given. But will Snyder get the f*** out of football operations so they can run smoothly for a change or will it be the sos forever?

I've just about had it with Snyder. If Allen is retained in any capacity, I'm through as a Redskins fan come Monday. If Allen goes but Snyder continues to handcuff his new HC and GM, then I'll be through soon afterwards.

We dont really know that yet, he could have already decided to go with Schaeffer and Smith as the front office guys, both of whom are apparently respected in the league, depending what his new friends have been saying..... none of this is really a surprise as the last time when he fired Vinny C , he was the one front and centre in the hiring of Mike S, but he had Bruce Allen in place to take over as GM..... like with Mike S, look for the new coach to have final say in the roster decisions

The way I see it: It’s very likely whoever Snyder will replace Allen with is already on board with Rivera or Lewis or whoever the next HC will be. Snyder wants to make major changes and have everything in place very quickly. All of these changes have been in the works for several weeks.

Yeah I expect a wholesale re-org announcement tomorrow with major players already in place to start. I imagine all the Rooney rule issues also have been handled. If that is the case though then this already is a different Redskins era, because there has been no leaking of all the prep work that must have happened to make a fast transition work.

Not that different, we heard all sorts of rumors for months, rumors about Bruce Allen being isolated in the building, being separated from Dan at games and at practice, then rumors about Dan's advice group featuring no current f/o personnel, and now that Bruce is leaving/being removed from football ops. We have as many leakers as the WH.

The only thing that hasn't been leaked yet is the new regime. Give it a day, that might still happen too. Might happen in the midst of the game.

Things are going to leak as moves have to be made. I am talking about things like DS having a working group all season with no real name or smear campaigns coming out. Things like seeing BA in exile or the obvious change in relationship are what good reporters sniff out, but for the whole season the upcoming changes were very much wrapped in silence.

Fair enough. Also don't forget the Jay Gruden smear campaign with the videos leaking. That seems like a classic Allen move though.

Yeah I would like to think that was the move that set BAs removal in process. There was no need for it, and BAs good culture press conference without DS may have been the start of his exile.
Speculation though. (Because no real leaks lol)
