Re: Week 15: Redskins vs Cowboys Gameday thread
Okay, let's start playing the what if game. I'll go first...
WHAT IF, Cam Newton somehow falls to the Redskins who will probably have a top 10 pick. Do you take him??

my basic point is that id rather draft a different position in the first round and get a guy to develop behind whoever our starter is, whether it be in the second round or later. im really not sold on anyone but luck as an elite qb this year, and hes only a redshirt sophomore this year.

Re: Week 15: Redskins vs Cowboys Gameday thread
It's going to be an interesting dilemma with the draft next year.
According to Ourlads Scouting Director Dan Shonka, who was on our local sports radio show last week, he says there aren't ANY quality offensive linemen coming up in the top ten of the draft next year. Not a good year for the guys up front, apparently. Apart from O-line, out next biggest needs would be D-line and QB. |

One thing that Shannahan said on Friday struck me. He said "If there was a young DM5 out there that would be great" or something to that effect. To me it sounded like he was alluding to Cam Newton. However I'm positive Jake Locker will be available too. This is going to be an interesting draft. Now what if AJ Green is available? Do we take him or no? |

Here is what Shanny said: "I've got to find where Rex Grossman is, where John Beck is. I want a chance to evaluate these guys," Shanahan said. "I told Donovan that there's nothing he could do in the three games that would influence me over what he's done over the last 13 games. I said, 'I'm not sure what I'm going to do in the college draft, if we're able to get the top quarterback in the draft, if there was a young Donovan McNabb or maybe a Sam Bradford, someone like that.' There's a lot of possibilities." With our situation or lack there of at the QB position.....that is the foundation of any team address that need with the very best QB available. Something we have not had under Dans watch a franchise QB. Not a used up has been like dmac another failure, experiment. Today was a job well done in the second half by Rex and the offense. The D and special teams were horrible. As we have several holes on all three phases of football on this current club, IMO you have to go after a QB at this point. Fill some holes and hope to be competitive for the next few years while the rebuilding is underway.

Re: Week 15: Redskins vs Cowboys Gameday thread
Keep Grossman and sign him to a 1 year extension for next season to see how he plays in a full year. Would use either the 1st or 2nd round pick to get a solid offensive lineman. Then all the other picks take the best players available regardless of position. There isnt a position where we dont need help. Might even be good to trade back in the 1st round and try to collect more picks. We need players.

Re: Week 15: Redskins vs Cowboys Gameday thread
We have the 2nd rounder for 2011. What we lost was the pick that was eventually used on Nate Allen.

Re: Week 15: Redskins vs Cowboys Gameday thread
I talked to a former scout the other day who said "Locker's a great fit for a west coast offense. Reminds me a lot of McNabb" I kinda had to laugh
