Have they settled on a list of rules to live by yet, or are they still all over the place?

Hey bob. “They” being the local or federal government? 2 months ago I thought it was silly to wear masks and was waiting for “they” to tell us what precautions to take. So I held off on a mask. Then they say masks are very helpful and it can be caused by just breathing near someone else.

Now I wear a mask and gloves to grocery stores. Now I have a system where (or were?) I take things I buy and disinfect all surfaces before I put it away. I take off my shoes at the front door and disinfect the soles. I try to keep my windows open. I avoid walking down the same aisle if someone is there. I wash my hands 25 times a day. I don’t let my dog sniff the trash/food on the streets when I walk her. I’m not meeting in person with clients. I stagger the days I work so that I am in there when as little co-workers are there.

These are just my rules. I live in a very condensed area.

I’m responsible for my own familiy’s safety and plan of attack.

I’m lucky, I still make good money, working at the same place for almost 15 years I can afford to work when I want to.

Others aren’t so fortunate to have resources at their disposal. My kids school up the street has a huge never ending line of families getting their free lunch. If you’re in a rural area, you’re fortunate but I would still be very meticulous when I go outside.

Stay safe, stay smart.

Re: Coronavirus (non political)

Along with the recommendations for masks and or gloves are they telling people how to properly use them? In just a matter of minutes I saw a girl repeatedly stick her fingers up inside her mask while leaning on the counter at the mini-mart. Then I walk outside and I see a guy finish pumping gas with gloves. He uses one gloved hand to remove one glove, then uses the bare hand to remove the other glove, then scratches his nose. It is damn hard not to touch your face. I have to be real conscience of not doing it till I wash my hands after touching something that might not be sanitary.

Re: Coronavirus (non political)

Ugh. I owed money this year ($32 bucks lol) and I used my credit card to pay for it. But I did get money the year before and had the same bank, it was direct deposited. Got paranoid, and looked online. Found a site to track your check, and they didn't have sufficient info for direct deposit. I was able to put my bank info in. Wonder how long it takes for them to verify and deposit. I don't need the money as an emergency or anything. Its just moreso making sure I get it. Note to self, I will just pay any amount owed from my bank account too, so its on file.

https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/comp...4SI?li=BBnbfcL

The article claims closed restaurants are going to lower the overall demand for food, that was temporarily sustained by panic buying.

Could someone please explain how this makes sense? I would think people are going to consume the same amount of food daily whether they are eating out at a restaurant or at home.

I know people probably will consume a higher food volume per meal on average eating out than they would at home, but most people I know make up for it by skipping the next meal or just eating a snack.

I didn't get the article's logic either. I think delivery has probably picked up as well as carryout. And most things I have seen worry more about people overeating during quarantine then stocking shelves with food that won't be eaten.

Re: Coronavirus (non political)

I think it's because restaurants buy in bulk, and they're not buying the same stuff we do at home. For example most people don't eat a lot of fresh produce at home. And restaurants toss out a ton of food too.

And when you eat at home vs in a restaurant are you starting off with soup and salad? How about a desert and maybe an appetizer? I think most people simply consume more when they're out vs making dinner at home.

The part about waste makes sense. Wish that could be channeled to the food banks around the country right now.
