Re: Trent Williams ends season-long holdout, rejoins Redskins
I think the sticking point will be how much a potential trading partner is willing to pay Trent on a contract extension, more than what draft capital they are willing to part with. He may get a big dose of reality here in the coming days.

His number (per year) will probably go down just to get out of town...but it really all about the guarantee at his age.

Re: Trent Williams ends season-long holdout, rejoins Redskins
Im trying to figure out the cap ramifications if TW is not traded and he doesnt report.
Does his 14.5 or just the 2M option or none count against the cap? Ive read we can fine him 30k per day missed in TC then with hold each weekly pay check as he misses the weeks, one week at a time. -------------------------------- “Trent is excited to resume his Pro Bowl career with a team interested in a player of his stature,” Williams’ agent, Vincent Taylor, told Ben Standig of TheAthletic.com. “We really appreciate and respect [owner] Dan Snyder for the chance to seek another opportunity. “This isn’t about a contract, but time for a change of scenery.” https://sports.yahoo.com/trent-willi...235359019.html Cool Mr. Agent, its not about the money so now the hurdle of finding a team that will trade assets and give TW a new LTD is off the table!! hell yeah! Im taking your word for it guy. Now, per his agent, its just about finding a new team willing to give up a 2nd R! That should make getting a 2R much easier if the new team also doesnt have to pay him 4/80/50

Re: Trent Williams ends season-long holdout, rejoins Redskins
Unlikely but what about a straight swap with the Broncos for Justin Simmons? We need a S and we can then concentrate on OL, LB, WR and CB in FA & the draft.

He will demand top dollar...I don't want 2 safeties to be wrapped up in the two highest players on defense. We already overpaid a minimum-impact play at SS.

Here are some options to replace Williams, like I said this is a good draft for OT’s.

Re: Trent Williams ends season-long holdout, rejoins Redskins
This is from BurgundyBlog, and I agree with everything except for the notion that TW is in his prime years.
"I'd probably move Trent for a 2 and bury this. But I'd aim higher. He's very good and still in prime years for the position. #Redskins don't owe him any goodwill, aren't in a hurry, and his punitive new contract is not their problem. Demand a luxury price for your luxury asset." |

Trent to the Browns for Denzel Ward. Maybe swap some later round picks to even things out.
Solves our Trent problem and gives us a good, cheap, young CB. Allows us to spend big in FA on Hooper, extending Scherff, resigning Flowers, and perhaps signing a guy like Peters or Penn to start at LT for a year or two while we develop some younger guys.

Re: Trent Williams ends season-long holdout, rejoins Redskins
CLEVELAND, Ohio — It’s no longer Scho-Time in Cleveland.
Browns GM Andrew Berry met with linebacker Joe Schobert’s agent, Joe Panos, in Indianapolis, and the two sides parted with the belief that Schobert will not be back with the Browns because they’re not prepared to pay him the double-digit millions he stands to make on the open market, a league source said. Schobert, a 2017 Pro Bowler, could attract about $10 million a year, and the Browns aren’t prepared to pay him that much, the source said. They’re planning to make a big investment in the offensive line, sources say, and they’re saving their pennies for that. It’s also the reason that defensive end Olivier Vernon, the highest-paid player on the team at $15.25 million, will also likely be gone. https://www.cleveland.com/browns/202...urce-says.html Couple of nuggets. LB Schobert will be on the market and apparantely Olivier Vernon. Im a no for both. Come on browns .... do it. Make that O line move. Your window is now. Baker, OBJ, Landry, Garrett, Ward ... lets go.

Re: Trent Williams ends season-long holdout, rejoins Redskins
The best return in terms of draft picks maybe for some in next years draft, GMs are a little more relaxed about trading future picks it seems......

Re: Trent Williams ends season-long holdout, rejoins Redskins
Mary Kay Cabot is a well connected reporter in Cleveland. So if she's saying that the Browns may need to part ways with their #10 overall pick for Trent, that's something to pay attention IMO.
