Beat reporters said this was a foregone conclusion once Shanny was fired. He's a Shanahan guy, has been for years and years. Great coach, sorry to lose him.

Yeah Turner was a Shanny guy 100%.

Besides, isn't this a good sign that Gruden is making some of his own staff decisions?

Weren't some people complaining that we retained too may coaches or were worried that Gruden wasn't going to be able to make his own choices?

Turner was retained by the Broncos, until Shanny went to Washington. Thats why I thought we were going to keep him. My guess is he probably wanted out. He is thought of as the best running back coach in the NFL.

Well looks like the Lions job wasn't as desirable as we all thought, good thing we locked up Gruden before the lions did.

Very true. He was an 'inside/unnamed source' before Shanny even knew where Redskins Park was.

Re: Jay Gruden hired as head coach of the Redskins

With Ray Horton granted the opportunity to interview elsewhere for lateral moves, I have to wonder if Gruden has him on his radar. He has to know him to some degree given that he coached against him twice last year.

Anyone have inside info if he gets an interview here?

Horton would be a great choice.
