Perry is a clown:

When asked by Parade Magazine whether he believed that President Obama was born in the United States, Perry said, "I don't have a definitive answer, because he's never seen my birth certificate," then adding "I had dinner with Donald Trump the other night. ... He doesn't think it's real." When pressed by CNBC the day of the flat tax unveiling, Perry doubled down on the dumb, saying, "It's (birtherism) a good issue to keep alive. It's fun to poke at him."

I generally don't obsess over polls this far out, but one released today shows President Obama leading all GOP candidates in Arizona. The last time a Dem won the state was in 1952.

If that trend holds for another month or two, Republicans will be in full blown panic mode.

This is a great site, very cool. It shows the 2012 Presidential race basically a toss-up 49 D to 48.5 R.

Nah I'll be OK, I'll just tell her, "what casino could I go to and get 50-50 odds." :cool-smil
Plus when she buys some new UGGs this winter I've got all the cover I need, even on the outside chance I lose.

Re: Meet The Candidates: 2012 GOP Thread

I just remembered the whole issue with regards to the AP quoting Obama as saying:

Quote:
"Shake it off. Stop complainin'. Stop grumblin'. Stop cryin'. We are going to press on. We have work to do."

There was an outrage that the AP quoted Obama the way he actually spoke, rather than the grammatically correct way. Literary scholars weighed in on if the AP was correct or not. Many linguistic scholars sided with the AP since Obama doesnt normally speak with a grammatically-incorrect dialect and since he was purposely making a particular point of emphasis in his speach.

I understand that Cain isnt the president, or even the Republican nominee, but while the media was outrage over how the AP quoted Obama the editor of Newsweek was on TV saying “naahn-naahn-naahn” in reference to Cain’s 999 Plan. Jon Stewart has even given an Amos and Andy impression of Cain when impersonating him. Early on left wing media even questioned Cain’s intelligence, I personally believe in part because of his dialect.

Unfortunately there is clearly a double standard about how black politicians should be spoken to and treated depending on their political idenity.

I agree with these:
- liberal establishment is scared a real black man will run against Obama.
Not from a racial perspective, but strictly an election perspective, if Cain attracts even 10 additional percent of black voters in 2012, Obama's done.
exactly what does this mean? as opposed to a fake black man?

No worries until after the GOP settles on a nominee.

Cain and Obama can debate their "realness" if Cain wins the nomination.

For what it's worth, Cain is blacker.

Re: Meet The Candidates: 2012 GOP Thread

if reps want to win, they've got to dial down the crazy and stop saying stupid things.

Cain and Perry and Bachman are all jokes. They don't know what they're doing and are completely unqualified.

There are white people blacker than Herman Cain. He can claim to be whatever he wants but when it come time to nut-up he soiled himself. I will take the half-black inner city community organizer who's lacking authentic black experience upbring thank you.

And Cain's authentically black conservative closet is filled skeletons. Perfect timing for halloween. This is going to be fun to see unfold...to deny or to no comment, that is the question.

Wow, it almost sounds like when it comes to who you would “take” (or I guess vote for), if between Cain and Obama, you would base it off of the person’s political ideology, and not just based off of how black they are…. What a novel idea, voting for someone not based off of the color of their skin.

I read the Morehouse atile and didn’t see anything disgraceful in it, can you calirfiy? Also what do you mean when you say there are white people blacker than Cain? Do you not consider black conservitives, black?

Whats interesting to me is that so much credence is already being giving to a third party unnamed source. Its weird that when the stories broke of Obama being gay and connected to Larry Sinclair, the reports were largely dismissed by major media outlets, even though the sources were named and firsthand accounts.

Perhaps Cain was involved in a sexual harassment allegation suit, who knows. I bet any settlement for alleged harassment would be with the agreement to remain silent. So like Obama’s gay sex and drug allegations we should take Cain’s harrasement allegations with a grain of salt.

Did you read the article, especially the end? You really don't get what's disgraceful? Well, it's claiming Obama is not authentically black and fawning over Dr. Martin Luther King admirably in speech after speech but when it came time to participate in the marches, protests, and civil disobedience with MLK and 99% of your peers for your civil rights you chose to stay home and obey Jim Crow laws.

Yeah, if we are going to talk who is blacker there's something to be said for Jewish and White civil rights advocates who marched and helped get us to where we are today being blacker.

Herman Cain, a successful conservative "black" business man, civil rights free rider, and apparently a sexual harasser.
