The Oline can run block but since the Skins have been down by 20 points they haven't been able to show it. They cannot protect any Quarterback in the pocket including RG3.
The Receivers are average at best as a group. Garçon is good but he would be a number 2 on a lot of other teams.
The defense front played well for 10 minutes in the first half. Kerrigan/Orakpo completely disappeared after that. The front 7 has given up more than 400 yards rushing the last two games.
If the front 7 doesn't get there the secondary is no where good enough to hold their own. Most teams want to draft rookies and bring them along throughout the season, but since the skins have no one else to start the Redskins are forced to start players who truly aren't ready yet.
Coaches have not seemed prepared compared to their opponents. There were times were Rogers pointed out who was blitzing and he was always right and was able to get a positive play. The Packer's defense looked like it knew what the Skins were going to do and were able to blow up the pocket pretty easily.
I really hope this team can turn it around but outside of RG3 all of a sudden becoming completely healthy I highly doubt that.
I wish we had a "like" button for posts like these. Other good points in this thread too.

edit: We have to start playing to our strengths. We are not a pocket passing offense, and the D needs a lot of improvement but can hold if we give them time between series.

The D played well? They gave up over 300 yards passing in the first half alone. Beyond the first two drives from Green Bay, this defense folded like a cheap tent. Haslett and his defense looked lost out there today.

Yes, the offense didn't do shit YET again to help our defense out, but they have to do much better than what they allowed here. Granted, the 49ers have a stout defense and still gave up points to GB last week.

All the predictions about Haslett not being all that great compared to his peers were right. I can't fault our FO since they did try addressing the secondary, but man our back four sucked today. Rodgers did have a lot to do with that.

we don't have the OL to run whatever it is they're trying to run right now. we need to run what we ran last year... and we need to cover guys, at least every now and then.

SPeaking of Haslett. It's about game adjustments. Notice this:

‏@Russellmania980

Ryan Kerrigan said that after first three sacks and first 3 drives. .#Packers were almost always 3 step drop for Rodgers

So after those first three sacks, GB's adjusted to get the ball out of Rodgers hands faster. (explains Kerrigan/Orakpo's disappearance)Those side passes and WR screens ate us up. Did our DC adjust? Nope.

Funny cuz I was about to say that. And when those quick passes that are caught within 5 yards from the line of scrimmage, go for 10 or more yards- there's nothing else the defense can do. The only thing that they NEED to do is make the tackles.

They need to start or focus on tackling drills in practice.

U guys say Griffin didn't play well? He had over 300 yards and 3 tds. When is the last time we had a QB do that in back to back games?? Exactly.

Kerrigan is a beast
Orakpo is not
Merriweather needs to be cut anyway.
Garcon is solid
Reed looks like he'll be a beast
Morris did OK nothing great.
Trent Williams is a monster

Other than that we really have some major major issues everywhere else

Re: Skins vs Packers post game thread

I think the bad offense exposes our bad defense.

People act like they were expecting to have a top 10 defense, hell we were 28th in defense last year. We have rookies in the secondary, no #1 CB, an old ass linebacker who should've hung it up... Did you expect something better?

One of the reasons we did so well last season? ...We had a functioning on all cylinders offense. When your offense works, then your defense doesn't HAVE to work as hard.

What you're seeing now is what we really are and always have been as of late. Don't act surprised now.

Re: Skins vs Packers post game thread

It's easy to get overly worried about your players taking on the loser personality of the coaches and being unable to rebound as a group (under new leadership), but then you look at quality coaches like Harbough in San Fran and Reid now in KC, walk in and turn those teams around in just season.

Dan and Bruce need to grab the next quality HC who comes available at this point. Preferably mid season so that person can analyze players over the rest of the season and because it's just such an embarrassment having this kind of piss poor leadership over a whole season. Unprepared, undisciplined and horrible play calling with almost total lack of adjustments.

But you do have to worry about the shanahans ruining RG, and I hope Dan and Bruce are keeping a close eye on this situation. Four years we have an oline completely incapable of pass protecting against today's defenses. And that without any injuries! Gotta be proactive before this failed leadership completely destroys the only franchise QB we've had in decades.

What kind of adjustments can Haslett make when they can't make the tackles and also hit and fill the gaps? It is his fault though that they can't tackle.

I hate that Kyle is keeping Griffin in the pocket like a sitting duck. Where are the bootlegs to get him to the edge? That was a staple in Shanny's Super Bowl years in Denver, and was used very successfully last year in Kirk's win over Cleveland.

The tackling portion is on the players, but it wasn't just tackling.

Re: Skins vs Packers post game thread

RG3 is not 100% no matter what they say. Offense is exposed because of this. They key on Morris for the run and our o-line can't pass protect. This hurts the defense but there are way to many miss tackles being made.... Haslett - if defense does no better in the next 2 weeks should be gone... never liked him anyway. MS has to protect RG3. Makes me wonder if we should have waited until after the bye week to have RG3 start....

Everything starts with tackling. And it also is Hasletts fault. I'm not going to sit here and argue the importance of tackling with anyone again. If you tackle, those quick passes are less effective and maybe they get away from that.

It changes the whole complexion of the game.
