I'm a VT fanboy as well, but even I knew TT has a long ways to go before he could even be considered an NFL passer. He didn't have a good showing in his first preseason game, but I can't say I didn't expect that, what with the odds against him.

That's pretty much what I'm sayin. He was playing in his first preseason game, two weeks after starting to practice, he's probably at least a couple years of riding the bench away before he might even be in the discussion as a decent backup qb, I honestly wouldn't know why people would expect more than he did. He looked good on that one play where he escaped the pressure in the red zone, but then he threw the pick to Jarrad Page which made everyone completely forget about how he was able to move around in the pocket out there lol.

TOTALLY AGREE, dude looked like he could take the starting job if they put him out there with the first stringers. I know that goes both ways, he'd be up against the starting defense, but I really was impressed. He had 2 straight FLAWLESS drives.

yeah, i just got back from the gym flipped on espn...i kept hearing Portis i thought it was CP at first... lol...he looked sharp. especially the endzone toss where most would panic he didn't... he remembered to look down field. it was impressive for such a new QB.

Mannn, it was sooo weird seeing "Portis" on the back of a QB jersey.

Mallet Looked Legit. My friend who currently plays QB at a DI school told me last April that he believed the best QB in that draft would be Mallett. I know its one game, and not even half the other rookie QB's have played, but my friend my be on to something.

Please all y'all are blind. B. Hoyer is the TRUTH!

3. Brian Hoyer, New England Patriots
"The guy Belichick trusts if Brady got hurt" sounds more comforting than a State Farm commercial. Personnel folks around the league have taken notice. And given that Matt Cassel has proven his skills aren't limited to the New England system, Hoyer's mere existence in that role is currency.

Mallett is in the best situation he could ever be, if you put aside the whole "not getting paid first round money" thing. But he is on a team that will keep whatever character issues he has in check, and will be given time to develop into a good QB. Sadly, I don't think this would have been possible here or many of the QB-starved teams that could've drafted him last April.

Re: NFL Preseason Week 1

That's the thing, will veterans Grossman and/or Beck play better than any of the rookie QBs that the team passed up? I know it's premature but, I'm hating not having a young and promising gunslinger on this team right now. Grossman and Beck have little upside in my opinion.

Sorry...
