Re: ESPN 980's Chris Russell: 75% Chance Skins release Big Al this week

Let me SUGGEST - - with exactly no inside information to lead me to this suggestion - - that there is one constant factor in the AH saga from the day he signed his deal just moments after free agency started and today.
The GM situation has changed.

The coaching staff has changed.

AH is still here and still the same person/player.

One other "team factor" is still the same...
Where's Waldo?

He will not be released this season, but it sure sounds like he wont be brought back next year...if there is a next year.

In all fairness to AH, the Redskins probably ruined his career. He was doing just fine before we got our hands on him. He was worth 100 mill when we got him, now we take whatever we can get for him. Only the Skins can do that to a player like AH. Pathetic if you ask me.

He's always been the same guy, Fisher and Schwartz just did a good job at handling him. And he did have the face stomping incident so...

At the end of the day he's done this to himself. Skipping camps, showing up late to meetings, putting in half-assed efforts, etc.

For what it's worth, the sports junkies were saying other players on the team said haynesworth was hung over friday morning. a guy called in to the show and said haynesworth was at The tap room at 130 the night previous night. I know this just qualifies as a rumor but if it's true, its disgraceful.

Regardless of who's in charge, we don't seem to handle anyone well. I agree that he's done all of this to himself, I just don't know why must he be kept in this limbo. Either play him or cut him, this should've been done a long time ago.

I'd make his ass practice and show up and play until the end of the year. Why just release him now so some other team could sign him to make a push for the SB. I mean we know the guy can play when he wants and I'm sure some team would be willing to sign him for the rest of the year. I could also see AH wanting to play so he could maybe get to a SB.

Allow him to fail his training test, play whatever position he wants, skip or be late for meetings, miss practices?

I won't disagree that MS has a big ego & is stubborn, but that's part of why he's running an NFL team. In this case I'm not feeling it that this whole thing came about simply because of Shan.
Haynesworth has been a problem since the beginning. Nothing good has come of the way that Shanahan has handled this situation. And it is ALL on him because everyone knows there is no way in hell Haynesworth is going to change. Haynesworth has brought this mess on himself and his career is pretty much down the tubes; however we didn't need and the team should've cut their losses and gotten rid of him, plain and simple.

What?? Haynesworth had one truly dominant year, which was a contract year. He cashed in on that year and Cerrato's stupidity to the tune of a mountain of guaranteed $$, and proceeded to half ass it from there. He wanted to get paid. As soon as he did, he reverted right back to being the malcontent ass-bag he's always been.

Haynesworth has made his own bed. All we did was overpay him.

Or we could release and focus on rebuilding this team and quit the petty distractions.

Haynesworth ruined his own career. I have no sympathy for him and don't care about his career. But his theatrics should not detract from the fact that the team should've gotten rid of him a long time ago.

I agree completely that signing a guy with "personality issues" and "work ethic questions" to a contract with $40+M guaranteed was dumb.

Any psychologist will tell you that the best indicator of future behavior is past behavior - - AH's past behaviors were not worth a $40+M investment.

Having said all that, what is the benefit to the Redskins of cutting him in mid-season?

They save a few game checks - - a pittance compared to the $21M they forked over to this guy about 9 months ago.

They free him up to make a deal with a team going to the playoffs - - boy, that'll show him who's the boss.

They rid the team of a "distraction" - - and miraculously the rest of the squad immediately blossoms and starts beating all opponents by 4 TDs. Not happening...

Albert Haynesworth should never have been signed - - no matter how much of a "beast" folks here pronounced him to be and no matter how big a splash he made in the annual Danny Boy Snyder free agency PR campaign. Now that he is here and the team has paid him, they need to keep him away from the team and away from free agency for the rest of the season.

The best way to do that is to do what Andy Reid did with Terrell Owens in Philly. Send him home to do sit-ups in his driveway. The picture of AH doing pushups in his driveway would at least provide comic relief for the season...
