Davis seems to be torching several DB's. Hmmmm? Will Davis earn a staring spot over Cooley? Or is Cooley given the starting position regardless of play on the practice field? Should be interesting to watch.

Hell, if he's torching DBs then he can be our possession receiver.

It's an interesting question. My buddies that were trainers for the Skins up until this year said Davis is the best athlete on the team. I've read quotes from players basically saying the same thing. And he showed it after CC got hurt last season.

I love Cooley- prob my favorite Redskin - but you gotta play the best player.

Frustrating for sure. Hearing some positive things about Tryon so that's good
While its bad news on one side of the coin, I'm heartened by the fact that Thomas and Kelly are making those plays on Barnes, maybe they are not complete busts as some paint them to be.

I guess we have to give them some time. Most were ready to lynch Justin Tyron in his second preseason after giving up those big plays, now look at himnow... he is... well better I guess.

How about both? Since the WR position has yet to materialize the way we'd all like to see maybe a lot of our sets will have Cooley @ TE w/ Davis swung out in the slot...I dunno this is just pure conjecture.

...Shanny and son are brilliant offensive minds so I guess i have near full faith they'll find a way to use our best weapons.

honestly I enjoy the history of the franchise but the only tradition we should be worried about is winning and that can be recreated without the history

Cooley may see an expanded role in the offense this season; he said he is running "everything all the receivers run." His ability to become comfortable with McNabb could be crucial, especially with few proven receiving threats other than Santana Moss.

Redskins Insider - Cooley working to develop a rapport with McNabb

Yep. And once Davis gets that extension.. or even beforehand if he earns it you wonder if Shanahan and Allen will think that they should only have one big contract at TE and could have an even younger guy take over, maybe that's why we drafted a TE.. who knows. Maybe if he or Cooley does enough out wide they'll keep them both, I don't want to lose either one.

Re: 2010 Minicamp (non Haynesworth edition)

I visited Redskins Park earlier today for a meet and greet thing where they were trying to sell club seats.
It was pretty hilarious though. Bruce Allen was a bit tipsy when he spoke to the fans today and answered a few questions. He nearly fell backwards once. He spiritedly told us about how the players have really been working their asses off. (he then quickly tried to correct himself by saying rear end, noticing some youngins in the front row)

Apparently the coaches and current players left the park early to go bowling and meet up with a bunch of the skins alumni.
Cooley and Trent Williams had the best scores among the current players... and Sellers had the worst score of the day lol

That's an interesting article...not sure if that means Cooley is the only TE learning "all" the routes.

Davis looks more athletic and much faster than Cooley so I would have thought he's the natural big body to swing out from the TE spot. Cooley is truly special however when it comes to creating separation: he just seems to find a way to get open consistently. The Shanahans have noticed as much I'm sure. And once Chris has the ball he can ramble for big time YAC. It's actually pretty sweet to have these 2 studs at the same position. Should make the offense all the more exciting.

I have a feeling that Davis might be a better run blocker and more physical than Cooley. Cooley has better hands. So using both, Cooley in the slot/H-back role and Davis on the line at TE makes sense.
With Davis, rookie Dennis Moore and Mike Sellers we finally have multiple blockers that can play smash mouth football. Finally!
