I'm just saying we had quite a few problems on offense too. The offense scored less than 20 points 7 times last year. How many times did we have drives we couldn't sustain because we couldn't run the ball effectively? When you can't hold on to the ball that has an effect on the D.

TOP reflects what you're doing on both sides of the ball, when you have the advantage that usually means you're running the ball and the D isn't giving up long drives. And when you don't have the advantage it usually means you're not running the ball and you're giving up long drives.

This year we're 7th overall in time of possession with 31:20, last year we were 23rd with 28:45.

That was one thing I noticed right away this year is the time of possession increasing; which is a characteristic of a Joe Gibbs team. That will continue to improve now that we're running the ball more effectively. Keeping our defense and the opposing team's offense off of the field just plays into our hands that much more. It allows for our defense to rest and takes away opportunties for the opposing team to score (unless you're the Ravens!) Imagine once our offense starts hitting on all cylinders! Our defense is going to be down right scary.....and I am going to be lovin' it!!!!

Who could have imagined a 1# ranked defense without Arrington, Bowen and Barrow. If this defense doesn't remind you of the rank and file players of Rich Milot, Neal Olkewicz and Monte Coleman then you don't know Joe Gibbs. Believe it or not, but the consistent big plays on the offense will come from the no-name players like Jacobs, Cooley, Thrash and Royal. Jacobs is slowly getting more involved in the offense and special teams with great success so far. Gibb's wants versatile players who are able to wear different hats. Portis is the best example of this.

The most dissappointing Coach this year is still fat ass Bill Parcells. He made the decision to get rid of Quincy Carter, Troy Hambrick, Antonio Bryant and settle for Eddie George. But like I said before the media throws a blank statement out there and we who are Redskins fans began to grab on to their madness. Remember fellas, 12 years away from the game and there are at least 4 teams that have only one win. One of them was in the Superbowl last year. Now you really need a check up from the neck up if you think Gibb's is the most dissappointing coach after that fact.

WELL PUT SUNRA. to me there is no way that gibbs can even be considered the most dissapointing, he's been away for 12 years, thats a long freakin time. the skins are playing with more hart, more emotion and more like a team than i've seen in a long time. once the passing game kicks in the skins will be one of the top teams in the nfl.

in reference to TOP measuring how good your offense is or whatever... it doesn't reflect properly for heavy throwing teams (like spurrier wanted to be and what the rams are)...

teams that run on 60%+ of their plays are going to have higher TOP (unless they got crap RBs) then those that want to throw 60-70% of the time...

my vote for horrid coach would be the raiders or the saints... you may hate dallas, but thats parcells and/or jones GM'ing skills, not his coaching skills; they just don't have the talent right now.

as for gibbs, he did get a great D staff in place (which got us from #25 to #1), and even though the passing game has been awful, it still looks like we'll have a better record than last year (even with nearly 100% staffing turnover and so much talent turnover)... while its not the 16-0 run i would have prefered, hopefully the core is in place and we'll be looking for missing pieces instead of an entire starting lineup during this offseason, which would really be one of the biggest improvements you could ask for.... (damn, i ended on a preposition, silly me... for which you could ask sounds kind of funky though... us kids have completely ruined the language...)
