On the flip side, I don't like the idea of giving Shanahan total control, either.

I understand not liking that Zorn got undermined, but I don't think that the disapproval needs to be directed at Lewis. |

Zorn, or Smith and Lewis, or ANY offense coordinator can't really call their gameplan if the offense linemen are playing terrible.. We can't run and we can't pass.. How in the world would any offense coordinator be able to success if both aren't working? |

Generally that is the case with Redskins football under Synder.

I had heard that Gruden and Allen had issues with each other during their time in Tampa and would go their separate ways if/when they returned to the NFL. But seeing how up close how they interact they really seem like the perfect team. Not meaning the perfect team for the Redskins necessarily. Anyhow, as for Allen I think even in a President role he would still have some input over the player selection. But we could also see Allen as General Manager and Gruden as head coach but it would be like Philly where Reid is the HC, and Tom Heckert is the GM but in reality Reid is the one selecting the players. Heckert just manages the process Allen makes sense for the fans because 1. He has front office experience 2. He has a link, albeit tangentially, to the Redskins through his dad 3. He's not Vinny Allen makes sense for Snyder because 1. He has front office experience 2. He has a link, albeit tangentially, to the Redskins through his dad 3. He and Snyder are pretty tight and Snyder could still be involved in the whole process

Re: Smoot Lays The Smack Down (Redskins vs. Eagles)
If Snyder is involved in the process in any capacity other than signing checks, then it defeats the whole purpose of getting a GM and we might as well stick with vinny.

No way. I might as well switch teams.

Re: Smoot Lays The Smack Down (Redskins vs. Eagles)
My personal impression on the blown coverage was that Rogers and Horton were not clear on what the coverage was. Well, more specifically, they were both clear on what the coverage was, and that neither was playing the same thing. Rogers had Tryon underneath, but still let Jackson free over the top, which makes me think that he thought it was an "even" coverage. Horton stayed underneath at the LOS looking for a dig dig or crossing patter, which implies that he thought it was "odd" coverage.
Normally, the free safety will give away the coverage on the rare off-chance that we get the overhead camera view, but the way Landry seems to read coverages these days, no one ever knows what the hell he's doing anyway. Rogers was the one who probably screwed it up, in all honesty, but it might have been a 1/4, 1/4, 1/2 situation. You never know. Oh well.

Re: Smoot Lays The Smack Down (Redskins vs. Eagles)
I said this a while back.. bu there are only two people that can have success in DC. Joe Gibbs and Goerge Allen. Joe aint coming back and neither is George, but his son could. I really like giving him a shot at GM.
