Re: Munching the Mocks: Andre Smith now leads for Redskins

The problem is that these teams are in the market for a franchise tackle:

1. Detroit
2. St. Louis
4. Seattle
6. Cincinnati
7. Oakland
8. Jacksonville
9. Green Bay

And with only four of them to go around, it's unlikely that any get past GB, or even Jacksonville for that matter.

Which means GB might go with Orakpo instead. And then Buffalo and Denver need linebackers...you get my drift.

Have guys thought about what happens if we actually draft a RB... bye bye Rock right? No way we'll carry 4 RBs on the roster through the season. Brings up the issue of KR. For my money, and I expect i'm alone on this one, Thomas should be our KR. This guy just has amazing athleticism and until he proves he can be a real threat at WR we should get our money out of him elsewhere.

We carried 4 RBs most of last year, if you can call Shaun Alexander that.

I wouldn't call it that but you're still right.

Well, they still counted him towards the 11 people we were allowed on the field at once, but Zorn should have appealed that ruling.

When we played on the road, the playing surface was as much a factor as he was.

lol... thanks for the update. I kinds liked Betts too but the knee injury last year, when we wasn't getting many carries in the first place, has me wondering. I tend to think we take a RB in the 5th or 6th round this year.

Agreed, and the other pick will be a DE of some sort.

... my gut tells me Rey will be last really special talent left @ 13. I basically started to think we'd approach the draft this way by getting the best OT FA in Willis, load up on what DE talent we can, grab the damn punter everyone wants, and then we'd be well set to take Rey. Maybe it still happens this way i guess.

I ice cream is really good you guys... banana split
Oh I see. Willis at RT? Ok that's cool. Orakpo and E Brown are going to the best DEs we can get in the draft. Rey is good. But there are a lot of guys that are good but not at his caliber at 13.

To be honest I'd rather have Orakpo because he gives us flexibility to run different packages at DE and OLB. Add Haynesworth moving around to DE every once in awhile and that's some scary sh*t.

For me I'd rather trade down to get Mack and then Mathews, Britton, or Loadholt. I highly doubt Mathews or Britton would be available but Loadholt might be. Even if we do get Willis I still think our O-line needs some youth. Mack, Britton, or Loadholt would be good youth infections for the future.

If A.Smith is there get him. There are a lot of guys who have not had good showings in the past that have pulled through. Did you see the pic of Brady at the combine? I wouldn't draft him for a soccer team. I wonder what all of the supermodels he knocked up were thinking? Oh yeah, Cha-ching $$$$

Just a week ago, I wanted to pass on Orakpo because he was too similar to Andre Carter.

Now I look at our DE situation, and see zero established depth, so Orakpo looks pretty nice if available.

They've got something cooking. They can't let Taylor and Evans go and not have people they're looking at to replace them. Jackson, Montgomery, Golston, Wilson? Those guys are depth.
No, they must have some guys they're looking at getting in the draft. It has to be there because there isn't anyone else in FA that's better than Evans.

Oakland might take Crabtree, Jags like Harvin a lot, and Green Bay loves Jenkins
