It's funny, yesterday morning on 980, B-Mitch was like, "Scweigert WILL be starting by the end of the season."

Then they cut him.

I'm not suprised...anyone who saw that first INDY TD pass would say...What the heck was that?
Both the safety and CB were way out of position....check the game thread...we all saw that.
The safety was Sweigart and the CB was Tryon...Tryon actually played worse...but he has an excuse....hes a rookie playing his first game on an island.
Sweigart was the vet saftey that was supposed to cover for him.
For a vet to be suckered that badly just shows that the guy was totally lost...and the scary part was, he was playing coverage....his supposed strength.
If that's his strength, I'd hate to see him in run support.

Horton clearly had the best game of any defender...
My only concern would be if it was just a one game thing....
The Skins wouldn't cut a vet unless Horton was doing that on the practice field as well though....I am glad for Horton.

Regarding the LBs....I think they may cut more of em and get a vet or 2 as backups unless they improve next game

Some insight on his release:

Zorn and safeties coach Steve Jackson said essentially the same thing about releasing veteran safety Stuart Schweigert -- he wasn't fitting in this system. Schweigert kept applying the technique he performed in Oakland, where the safeties are more programmed -- to this system, where it doesn't apply. Particularly for the back-up free safety, the Skins want a guy who plays at a higher speed and attacks the ball.

"We give our safeties here a lot more freedom. In Oakland it's more restricted and confined," Jackson said. "Our system is -- you've got the green light to go make plays. His was, 'I have to back-peddle like this, I have to move like this I have to stay right here.'"
