I don't think it says anywhere that they are "phased" by other coaches ragging on them. What they are "phased" by though, is the lack of communication from the front office during the process, and the poor timing and "mis-wording" of Vinny's promotion. Not to mention they are trying to focus on coaching at the senior bowl despite learning over the past few days that their future with the team is very much in doubt. They could be interviewing with other clubs, or at least preparing to.

People in other jobs have to work their asses off when there are imminent layoffs. Do they complain, and get "hurt"? No they continue to work their asses off, and if they get fired it sucks but that is the REAL WORLD.

If you can't deal with that kind of stuff then don't work for the Redskins. Simple economics IMO.
You sir, are the consummate professional. I tip my hat to you. Hopefully the guys in mobile have your same attitude.

The players now hope Snyder will embrace Gibbs' example — that continuity counts — and promote assistant head coach-defense Gregg Williams. They lauded Williams for his work as an assistant and endorsed him to replace Gibbs. But Gibbs would not publicly endorse Williams despite getting numerous chances, and Snyder gave no insight about the upcoming search.

I guess since we are pulling out quotes from the papers, here is where I saw Gibbs endorsement : from the washington post this AM.

Gibbs has endorsed Williams privately, sources said, but is not a major part of this process with Snyder and Cerrato handling the sessions.
Williams does not have a close relationship with Cerrato, seen as some around the league as a potential factor, and Snyder met with Williams on four occasions, gauging their ability to coexist as well as going over football issues.

I'd be amazed to see that happen for most companies. I really doubt many people have that kind of loyalty to their jobs. If they know they are probably going to get fired they are so busy looking for a new job that they push everything else aside.
Most of the time, the only reason why a person who knows layoffs are looming works their ass off is because they're hoping to somehow get spared.

And Yes, people do take that kind of shit personally.

I've heard on countless news/sports outlets that Joe is endorsing GW being his replacement.

To me, I'm not bothered by the assistants feeling "upset". What I'm bothered by is that coaches around the league are rumored to be thinking we're a laughingstock. Doesn't that tell you something?

Of course, other coaches are not in the know when it comes to interviews between Danny and GW. Maybe Danny thinks it won't work with GW. But it's never good when coaches around the league think you're a joke.

Who really cares about Snyder? Do you think Giants and Patriots fans are worried about the owners feelings or what he's up to? As a Redskins fan and Snyder its like he took a page from Jerry Jones. Who the hell cares about the Owner?? Just provide the best teams and win or don't charge all that money for game day.

Dan, you need to learn from mistakes past, sorry your ego is so big but you're not a football guy. Giving Fassel the job would be just as bad as firing a coach who went 8-3 in his last 11 games after starting 0-5 for an unproven college asswipe.

Yours is based on unknown sources. If Gibbs really want GW as the next coach and feels that strong then why wouldn't he say so in public and if Snyder worshiped him like everyone says then why would DS not just hire GW.

Re: Redskins assistants upset and getting grief in Mobile

Here's another thing:

JLC is reporting that the Skins may try to go with Fassel as HC and Rex Ryan as DC. Just for a minute, let's pretend that this happens because it shows why the people down at the Senior Bowl are having a harder time doing their job since everything is in limbo.
Rex Ryan runs a variation of the 3-4, and he would probably want to keep it that way if he came here. We don't really have the pieces to run that D right now so we'd have to bring in FAs and draft guys to fit it.
Wouldn't it stand to reason that the style of D the Redskins want to run next year will determine the types of college players that we look to draft?

Maybe this is a big part of the reason the guys down in Alabama are so upset.

Pleas give us these sources and not a source that has a source that has a source etc... Its funny all these writers keep throwing out all these ideas of what is going on and once in a while get something right and they seem to forget all the things they miss on.

What "core players" are going to be cut if Fassel/Ryan come aboard? Campbell, Portis, Moss, Cooley, Samuels, Landry, Carter, Fletcher, Washington, Smoot, Rogers, McIntosh, Rabach, Sellers, Thomas?? Any of those "core players" going anywhere?

It is privately. I just read an article that said that. Gibbs would never say it publically.

This is really getting fun and most of it is based on rumors.
