Re: Lavar In 2008
Well, I hear the offensive playbook is much thicker than the defensive one, so I don't know if that would fly.
I really don't have anything against Lavar. He was a good player for the Skins for a few years. His knees are shot and I just don't believe it's a good idea. I may be totally wrong. Just an opinion on what I know of his condition.

Re: Lavar In 2008
probably gonna get bashed for posting this, but take it as a pipe dream type thought. we all saw how moved lavar was at the funeral for taylor. he was devistated to say the least. WHAT IF he wants to come back to the skins to play for the team with a renewed passion. would be pretty sweet, not likely but hope you get what i'm saying. just a prayer

He needs to learn how to ride a sportbike before he comes back.

Re: Lavar In 2008
How do any of you guys actually know his knees are bad? Are you his friend or have you even met the guy lately? If he wants to come back then there is probably some sort of indication he is nearing playing condition. Anyhow, I would welcome this with open arms. Lavar was a beast when healthy. Yes he needs to play with more discipline, but he was an undisputed playmaker for our defense where people would try to avoid him on the field.
Do you guys even remember how Aikman retired?? Anyhow... I dont understand why some of you guys have such personal angst against a man you never even met or played football with. It's pretty silly. |

Re: Lavar In 2008
Look, in 2003, when Lavar got his mega contract, he was thought of as a premier linebacker in the NFL. He never had reconstructive knee surgury that I know of, just orthroscopic knee surgury. I am not saying he will be the super star he was, all I am saying is that if he wants to play, give him a shot. If we dont, someone will and maybe he turns out to have another great season, or two left in him. He will probably go to the to the Patriots and be another low priced superstar for them. It costs the Redskins nothing to give him a shot, and furthers the team-family spirit. I am done with this post, because I cant believe the people that screamed and yelled when he came on the field can talk so bad about the guy. As much a Dale Lindsey maligned Lavar, he was a key to us winning our last 5 games. He stuffed the run. Come back Lavar!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Lavar In 2008
Without a link, even if mentioned on Comcast, I'm inclined to think this is rumor only. But honestly, if true, I would not be opposed IF the situation is right, simply because we're in dire need of LB help next season. You can address LB without Lavar, and I'd probably prefer getting a decent one in the draft over Lavar (I'd prefer the youth). But under the right circumstance, it could be a good move. First, he's got to pass a medical exam, our team docs need to give a good report on the knee. Second, he needs to pass one of Gibbs/Williams conditioning tests that they give before signing players. And third, he needs to come at a very low price. If any of those conditions aren't met, it's a very bad idea.
We need LB help. A draft pick would be better, IMO. But we do need it. All that said, I'm relatively certain this is all rumor.

it's not a rumor, i also saw it. chick hernandez(sp) of comcast asked lavar if he was gonna return to football next season. lavar responded by saying something like "maybe, you never know. hey ,maybe even with the redskins. you'll have to stay tuned." i'm not sure if lavar was joking around but he definately said it. i personally would like to see him come back to the skins.

Re: Lavar In 2008
Sounds like more of LaVar's "Look at me, Love me" routine. No thanks. Sorry, I just never got the LaVar Love that seemed to strike some people blind to his self serving routines.

Re: Lavar In 2008
Lavar is a beast when he rushes the QB. He had like 12 sacks when he played down. I don't know if he has any fire in the tank anymore but I would at least have him work out, we'd be dumb not to.

Re: Lavar In 2008
I'll believe it when I see it. Lets not forget Lavar got benched, went packing to the Giants, bad mouthed the entire Skins organization and the coaches. I don't think the Skins are that hard up to bring him back.
