Re: Fred Smoot - asset, liability, or neither?
Smoot did play great last night but 1 game does not an asset make. I think between Smoot being hurt a lot and getting burned a good bit I could never call him an asset. I dont think he's a liability either so I'd have to say neither.
And lets not get too carried away with smoot shutting down his receiver, the wind was the shut down factor. |

Re: Fred Smoot - asset, liability, or neither?

I'm not sure what that means either. I was just trying to play along. |

I'm just trying to bump my post count. Mission accomplished.

At least you weren't trying to bump your reputation points.

Re: Fred Smoot - asset, liability, or neither?
Smoot had a great game last night against a great receiver in Plax, he totally shut him down. Fred is definitely an asset to this team, but I still think he is best suited at the #3 CB position.

Re: Fred Smoot - asset, liability, or neither?
I could see people question him being a starter, but find me a better 3rd CB in this league than Smoot. He's certainly one of the best nickel players around. The last 2-3 games Smoot has been playing great. he's found his stride again.

Re: Fred Smoot - asset, liability, or neither?
Liability as a #1 corner
Neither/Push as a #2 - i mean to say he is strictly average, nothing more nothing less as a #2 Asset as a #3/Nickel and Dime Db The only caveat to all of that is when he decides to have a breakout game every now and then. This is usually instigated by trash talking/friendlly banter with a specific wideout and he plays like he has a chip on his shoulders. Then he looks like a legit #1 guy. He also does possess good open field tackling skills to help out in the run game (a vital skill in a GW system). My final thought on Fred Smoot is that he is neither the problem nor the solution when it comes to our secondary or our defense as a whole. He is the essential filler meat to our squad and is a great locker room presence, so i'd like to see him stay a redskin unless we get someone who is a significant upgrade.

Smoot was all over Burress...I mean who can check Burress like Smoot did last night? He was shut out.

Smoot played an awesome game last night. Shut down corner last night, we needed that. Great job skins.

Of course the wind was a factor but Smoot still did a nice job.
