Re: Brett Farve wants to be traded from Green Bay

Being in Milwaukee and having Packers stuff plastered everywhere and in everyone, I couldn't believe even last year with all the retirement talk fans are starting to lose the love for Favre? I never thought that would happen anywhere in Wisconsin, and this could be the straw to break it, if he's turning his back on the packers he could lose the fans completely.

Re: Brett Farve wants to be traded from Green Bay

He is this upset because they couldn't land Moss? From my understanding, once New England entered the conversation there was no longer a chance for them to get him since Moss wanted to compete for a Superbowl. What did he think when he came back, that they were close? They are a mediocre team in the worst division in a mediocre conference. I just don't get this guy anymore.

I would think this is the best move for the club for FAVRE to get gone. They are long overdue to START the rebuilding process....the cheap bastards, it's gonna take quite a while for that process to happen.

The good news for them is they have a QB waiting in the wings that is a good starting point in Rodgers.

Re: Brett Favre wants to be traded from Green Bay

as long as brett is their qb they should do what ever it takes to put together a championship team. they should pull a dan snyder and spend some money on some free agents. brett is still a very good qb, he is capable of taking them to another superbowl but he needs better players around him. if the packers want to be tight with their money and not try to "win now" then they should tell brett so that he can retire or maybe go to another team.

Re: Brett Favre wants to be traded from Green Bay

I just don't know what Favre was expecting. Maybe they could have gone after a few more players, even though it wasn't the greatest offensive free agent class. I mean, who should they have pursued? Stallworth? Favre fails to mention the role he played in alienating their best receiver, who had to be traded away.

Should they have spent 50 million on Dockery or Leonard Davis? Drafted a WR instead of Harrell in the first round and hoped he could contribute right away?

I still fail to see how much Favre reasonably expected them to improve this offseason, and wonder why he came back given the fact that the team is not that close to even making the playoffs. Before he said that he just had so much fun last year he wasn't ready to hang it up. Now all of a sudden its superbowl or bust?

we went this long and no one mentioned bringing him here? favre ought to kiss the packers ass for letting him keep coming back when he clearly should have retired 2 years ago, and maybe 3.

Farve would be a perfect fit for Chicago. I mean perfect. GB is still looking at between 7-9 wins as they are a middle of the pack team.

Why retire when you can still throw like Farve? If GB would put a good team around him they could still win with him. It's not like his skills have declined like Mark Brunell's.

Re: Brett Favre wants to be traded from Green Bay

it has nothing to do with his skills. and everything to do with his decision making. takes way too many chances

Whoa. I mean, I'm from Chicago, but even though I'm not a Bear fan by any stretch of the imagination, that's the kind of talk that puts people around here into either a blissful haze or a coma depending on who your team is.

Favre to the Bears...quickly followed by the rapture the next day.

It would improve the Bears in the short run, but it looks like they are going to let Grossman develop to his maximum potential and just deal with his shortcomings. Its probably better for the long run than cutting Grossman right as he gets to his prime and then having only the options of really old, and really young at QB.

Re: Brett Favre wants to be traded from Green Bay

With this development do u think it would be unreasonable to try to shop Lloyd to Gb for, oh lets say KGB and some draft choices. I am not saying that I've given up on Lloyd but when a guy like Brett Favre (and what he means to that city and team) is unsatisfied, a franchise can be coaxed into making a bad trade just to appease him. Im just sayin I would like the skins to get the good end of one of these horrible deals for once.

Also what the hell is up with everyone not being able to spell FaVRe? I mean i know GB isn't in the same division as the skins but he has been one of the biggest names in football of the past 20 years, jeez.

Spelling Favre wrong is more forgiveable than suggesting Lloyd be traded for KGB and picks, imo.

The deal to Green Bay was all but done, just a couple of days before the draft. I remember telling Gmanc that I had just heard the trade was all but official and would be announced on draft day. But then things started unraveling. The Packers would offer no higher than a 5th when just a couple of days before it was going to be a 4th or even a 3rd. They wouldn't guarantee Moss some money even though they have it and Favre even offered to restructure his deal to pay Moss.

But it was probably a culmination of several things; the last two years their first picks have been defensive players, they didn't take care of Javon Walker (I don't really remember all the details of that actually), they let Ahman Green go.

Maybe they have been trying to force him into retirement by not helping out the offense.
