Of course he is, he's Menley's boy!

Seriously, I've heard good things about him.

TEAM - 2007 PICKS

Cards - 5
Broncos - 4 (after trades, fewer picks than the Skins!)
Jets - 4 (same as Denver)
Chargers - 6
Redskins - 5
But they might have had more day 1 picks. We had a 1st the na 5th

So what. Some of our second day picks (Sartz, Blades) are better than a lot of teams' first day picks.

<cough> Ted Ginn, Jr. <cough>

Right but Miami is an exception. There is a pretty big talent drop off after the first day.

I do agree that ESPN was ragging on us a bit, Berman and TK were pushing it. But again I kinda dont buy into the whole media hates us deal. There are some, like Pastabelly, but beside that the Skins really have earned it. Over the last decade and a half we have been total shit. Constant QB changes, and recently an owner who is just learning a thing or two. Many Skins fans are quick to forget that a majority of media(ESPN, SI, etc) had us winning the NFC East. If we are a playoff contender for more than 1 year in a row then I promise you a majority of this skins "hate" everyone sees will go away instantly.

Thats right, so I'm not really excited about our 07 draft because of this pick we traded away. Now 08 is a different story and we still have all our picks and that is very exciting to me. JC will then have several years behind center and we should be able to stock pile some weapons for him to use in 08. Mybe I'll start a "I'm so excited about the 08 draft" because we could do a mock draft and stuff to see how things will work out.

The fact is except for Landry, the low picks won't be on the active squad come September and probably will never make it. Palmer might after a year or two in NFL Europe. Blades and co. might make special teams at best. Realisitically, only 1-3 rounders are worth a damn, unless you luck out with a diamond in the rough, which is rare.
true that 1-3 is a higher %, but not as high as you make it sound. On espn last night they had a breakdown of players on current rosters by draft round. 27% of the players are undrafted, I think over 15% were first rounders, and as I recall from there every round was fairly close, about 8-10% each. There are plenty of "busts" in rounds 2 & 3, but they don't get the attention that top 10 picks get.

Of course, around here we'll always remember every high draft pick that didn't make the pro bowl!

SWFlaSkinsFan is correct, we still owe Denver next year's #4 pick as a result of the Duckett give-a-way. So our full draft complement is complete minus one.

The difference is that all those other teams were able to keep their high round picks (1-4). The Jets traded some of theirs away to move up in order to get Ravis.

If you're going to trade picks away, it's always better to get rid of the later rounds rather than selections in the first three or four.

Certainly you can't be arguing that the Skins should be able to escape criticism for screwing themselves in the draft. When we give up what most consider the best way to build your team for what frequently turn out to be free agent busts, do you honestly expect us not to get called on it?

NY, the Broncos, and the Chargers have all had way more success than the Redskins recently. As long as we keep losing, you might as well brace yourself.

Re: Im not alone, am I....? (next year's draft)

Here are a couple more to consider if the Skins decide to address the DL/DE positions (from CBS Sportsline):

Calais Campbell, DE, Miami: This junior can be a special pass rusher. He has great size and speed. At 6-8, 265 pounds, he's huge.

Glenn Dorsey, DT, LSU: He's a power player who will see a lot of double-teams this year. Ben Grubbs, this year's top guard, said Dorsey was his toughest opponent.

Derrick Harvey, DE, Florida: He had two sacks of Troy Smith in the national championship game, which served notice that Harvey will be a force in 2007. He might see more doubles with all his line mates leaving for the NFL.

Frank Okam, DT, Texas: At 6-5, 320 pounds, he is a power player in the middle of the Longhorns line. He does need to be more consistent.

Tyson Jackson, DE, LSU: He has a lot of raw ability and needs to show more of it in 2007. At 6-5, 290 pounds, he has great size.

Vernon Gholston, DE, Ohio State: He surprised many last season by becoming the Buckeyes' top pass rusher. A former linebacker, he should get heavier in 2007.
