Considering the fact that Dale Lindsey has never been satisfied with any linebacker play, i don't think its fair to judge McIntosh off his rookie campain. There was no chance Lindsey would start him over Holdman, regardless of his performance on the practice field.

I am in no way saying that he will be another Monte Colmen but wouldn't it be great if Marshall would turn into a Colmen type do everything super sub for the Redskins.

To have that type of return, we would have to have drafted Rocky in the equivalent of the 11th round of the draft -- where Monte Coleman was taken -- 289th overall. Can you believe that?

and that kind of stupid thinking is exactly why he is no longer with the team and as for our linebacker situation i see marshall starting the first 2 or 3 games and then rocky will emerge (he better seeing all what we gave up for that guy)

Re: McIntosh Vs. Marshall

With Marshall's experience at WLB and MLB gives us great depth. Lets remember that Marshall had a decent year in 2005 and made some plays that helped us win some games.

I wouldn't write off Marshall yet. He played banged up last year and still did an alright job.

I think we have good depth at the LB position.

What about a linebacker by commitee situation?

Or would there be a chance that Williams will want to run some 3-4 packages during the a game???

Re: McIntosh Vs. Marshall

ummm rocky macintosh is nowhere close to marshall. i see rocky on the bench for a while, maybe every now and then come in to give breathers.

i like rocky but i think we messed up going after him like we did.

marshall is a beast. bottom line.

Re: McIntosh Vs. Marshall

marshall is not a beast, but he's serviceable when healthy and he can be good if the DL can protect him from getting washed out on blocks, which didn't happen last year.

this is a good point. most productive linebackers have a very good front four keeping linemen from getting to them

That is true about any LB especially a MLB. Urlacher and R. Lewis had off years when their D-lines were bad. The same can be said about a RB and his O-line.

Marshall is more than serviceable and is currently or 2nd best LB. He is better then Rocky and he has proven that on the field. Our entire defense had an off year last year, that is not Marshalls fault.
He had a very good year the year before, but I guess that doesn't count in your estimation. I think you are basing your assesment only on last year.

where did i say that it didn't? you're making assumptions :P

he's not a top 5 MLB, but i already said rocky has shown us nothing to make me believe marshall won't be starting.

i dont think you meant to put "servicable when healthy" which to me means "hes ok when hes not being sidelined with an injury"
he is always healthy, and in my opinion he did a very good job at middle linebacker considering we asked a lot of him to fill in when he was origionally an outside LB. i remember when there were people saying he didnt weigh enough to play MLB, he proved them wrong.

marshall is now going back to OLB where i think he will do better based on his size and speed, and hes a great tackler.

i dont think he gets enough respect personally.

first, he had a leg injury last year, and it affected him, so he's not ALWAYS healthy.

second, i was one of the people that said he COULD play MLB and his weight wouldn't be a huge problem there.

third, as a starting OLB he had what? 47 tackles? brian urlacher and ray lewis are great tacklers, he's not bad, but a lot of guys like pierce etc etc had more.
